Chelsea Center
Experiential Education Opportunities for ALL students
Summer Opportunities Galore!
It's hard to believe, but summer will be here soon, and right now is prime-time for helping students map out summer goals. It is a great season to encourage them to expand their comfort zones by exploring the unknown, and also to make time to deepen their knowledge about something they love.
The Chelsea Center maintains a database of summer opportunities to help students stretch their wings, follow their passions, and build their skills for competitive application processes. All regional opportunities we amplify are listed in the GivePulse database accessible to students at wgsd.givepulse.com via their WGSD Google Login credentials. We’ve also listed many of the various opportunities for you below.
In January, all students grades 9-11 participated in an Advisory Zoom session to gain exposure to this database of summer opportunities, and can share that information with you.
Students should express interest for an opportunity by registering via the green button on the GivePulse listing. In some cases, GivePulse will link directly to the organization's registration/application, and in all cases we will reach out to students individually once we see them register their interest in the system.
Summer opportunities listed on GivePulse are open to all WGHS students who meet the requirements of the experience. Some experiences are fee-based registrations and fill quickly. Others require a selective application process controlled by the institution, not Team Chelsea. Students and families may register for these events independently of the Chelsea Center. However, if students want to earn credit and potentially receive funding, registrations and applications must be coordinated with the Chelsea Center.
You may apply to receive funding to cover the cost of both fee-based and selective experiences, so please see us in the Chelsea Center PRIOR to making any deposit. Receiving Chelsea Center funding for your experience has two requirements:
- Make no payments or deposits prior to speaking with Team Chelsea. We cannot (by law) provide complementary coursework enrollment with WGHS elective credit and/or scholarship payment once any kind of payment is made by a student or family.
- Simultaneous enrollment in a Chelsea Center Passion Pursuit course that wraps goal setting and reflection work around your desired experience.
To apply, register here on GivePulse, then come visit the Chelsea Center. You may apply to receive funding to cover the cost, so please see us in the Chelsea Center PRIOR to making any deposit. Simultaneous enrollment in a Chelsea Center Passion Pursuit course that wraps goal setting and reflection work around your desired experience is required to receive funding..
