Good bye school! Hello summer!
As we say goodbye to this year, we wish our entire Balboa community a restful and restorative summer! We congratulate our culminating class and look forward to welcoming everyone in the fall! For now, enjoy some fun in the sun!
Should anything come up over the summer of if you have any questions or ideas, please feel free to reach out to the BSC! You can email us at balboacommunications@gmail.com!
Congratulations to our Culminating 5th Graders! 🎓
Congratulations to our culminating 5th graders! We are so excited for you! We will miss you but find comfort in knowing you will go off to do amazing things! Please be sure to come visit! Wishing you all the best!
Scholar vs. Teacher Basketball
It was a hard fought victory but our scholars edged out our teachers to claim victory in this year's Scholar vs. Teacher Basketball game. Thanks to all of the teachers and scholars that participated and to all of the families that bid on this always popular auction item. We're grateful to have such amazing staff always willing to support the BSC.
Tug of War - Forces Applied
Our 3rd graders learned all about forces in a recent Science Lab lesson and those lessons were quickly put to use in a tug of war tournament. The winning class went head to head with our teachers and staff and demonstrated how well they were paying attention in the Lab. Thanks to all of the teachers that participated (and got crushed), our amazing Science Lab teacher Mrs. Croft, and all of the families that support the BSC to help deliver these enrichment programs and classes.
Planning for 24-25! The BSC Needs YOU!
Dear Balboa Families,
It’s hard to believe but we need to start planning for Back to School already! We need your help now, so we are ready to Welcome our Scholars back in August:
New Family Picnic
- We are excited to hold our picnic as a way for our newest families to meet, learn about the Balboa Spirit Club, and have some fun. We are planning to hold this on either August 10 or 11 at Dearborn Park.
- Please contact Steven Otterman at otterman79@yahoo.com
- A committee is already being formed to continue this popular event and make it even better. With a tentative date of August 17, we are looking for volunteers who can help plan and coordinate this event, help setup and cleanup on the day of the event, and run some of the fun booths and games.
- Please contact Julie Brooks at jlbrooks.la@gmail.com
- We are always excited to show our love and appreciation for the teachers and staff that make Balboa such a wonderful place. We start each year with a luncheon to welcome them back to campus and get ready for the new year. The luncheon is tentatively scheduled for August 9 this year.
- Please contact Virginia Mines at virginiamines12@gmail.com
- Please help introduce our new families to the Balboa. We always like to give our newest Scholars a treat when they visit for orientation and give our new families a chance to shop at our Spirit Store. Orientations are tentatively scheduled for August 8 and 9.
- Please contact Steven Otterman at otterman79@yahoo.com
Earthquake & Safety Chairperson
- We are looking for a volunteer to perform our annual review of the classroom emergency supplies, replenish and update any missing or outdated items, and review other security needs as appropriate. This has recently been done and all our classrooms and supplies are currently up to date. This coming year should only need a basic review.
THANK YOU for all your help throughout the year!!! We truly cannot do it without the help and support of all our AMAZING Balboa families. Please email us at balboacommunications@gmail.com with any questions!
