Message from the Principal
Lake Families,
As we embrace this season of Thanksgiving, I am deeply grateful to be part of such an extraordinary community. The dedication and innovation on display across Lake highlight a culture of excellence, from the hands-on creativity of project-based learning to the inclusivity of Universal Design for Learning and the transformative impact of the Science of Reading. Together, these efforts maximize the potential of our students and reflect the incredible work happening here every day.
Even when the unexpected happens, Lake shines strong. Last Friday, an unplanned fire alarm went off during arrival time. There was no fire, and no alarm was pulled. The fire department arrived promptly, conducted a thorough safety check, and cleared us to proceed with our day as usual. To follow up on this, we are in the process of checking all fire detectors and sensors.
I am incredibly proud of how our entire school community responded. Our staff and AM/PM teams did an excellent job keeping students calm and supported throughout the event, ensuring their safety and comfort. With parent conferences happening in classrooms, the Book Fair in Rose Hall, and all arriving for the day, I also want to thank Lake families and volunteers for the collectively calm and patient response. Additionally, our cafeteria staff went above and beyond to make sure all students who needed breakfast were able to receive it, even with the unexpected disruption. This event highlighted the importance of our regular safety drills, as everyone followed the practiced protocols with calmness and focus.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping Lake a safe and caring environment for all. EnJOY this week ahead as we also look forward to the Thanksgiving Break. As a reminder, school will be closed Monday through Friday 11/25 - 11/29 and resume on Monday, 12/2.
In partnership with you,
