It is hard to belleive the year is half over and Monday, January 20th is the beginning of the second semester. This is a great opportunity for a fresh start and to build on the hard work and success from semester one.

Physical Science Students Build Electric Vehicles

To wrap up our unit in electricity, students have been building electric vehicles and renewable energy houses with solar panels and turbines. Students have been using problem solving skills to troubleshoot how to get the vehicles to move while reducing friction. Each student created their own design. Below are some pictures from the activity as well as a short video of one of the cars produced by the students.

WHS Child Development Students Write Children's Books

Our Child Development students wrote children’s books in class this year and shared their stories with the kindergarten classrooms they worked with this semester. The students really enjoyed the experience!

Teen Mental Health Night

On Wednesday, January 22, from 6:00-7:00 p.m., in our WHS Cafeteria, we are going to host Dr. Jennifer Krzewina (pronounced Sha-vee-na) for a facilitated conversation regarding teenage mental health. She presented last year and we are happy to have her back. Parents and guardians of NICE students from grades 6th-12th will have the opportunity to learn and reflect about teenage mental health best practices. Dr. Krzewina will be here to discuss recognizing teenage mental health risk factors and warning signs, and will outline strategies to support teenagers who may be or are struggling.

Dr. Krzewina is a school psychologist and the Director of Mental Health Services for students across Marquette and Alger counties. She and her team have been a beacon of support and guidance for us over these past few years. We invite you to join us.
