Please take the time to review our school bus safety letter. As a reminder students that do not ride six (6) consecutive days will be removed from the bus schedule. You must submit a new request in order to reinstate your bus stop. Riding the bus is a privilege. If a student receives 3 bus referrals, their bus privileges may be suspended.
Gifted and Talented News
How can students be referred for gifted screening?
A teacher or a parent may refer a child for gifted screening. If your child exhibits gifted behaviors and is performing above level, you or your child’s teachers may refer your child as a good candidate. The fall testing window opens October 1st and closes November 1st.
Go to Goochland County Schools Gifted Page. Here you will find the Gifted Referral Process and the Initial Referral Form. This form is due to Randolph Elementary by 3pm on November 1st. Please contact egemmill@glnd.k12.va.us with questions.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call our main office. We are happy to help!
Let's make it a GREAT week,
Melissa Reams, Principal

County-Wide News
The Advisory Committee for Equity in Education (ACEE) invites all interested and solution-focused Goochland community members to join us at the Central High Arts & Education Complex on Saturday, Nov. 2, for a Community Conversation focused on communication. Please register here or using the QR code on the attached flyer below.
Goochland County Public Schools is partnering with the Goochland-Powhatan Community Services Board and the Infant and Toddler Connection of Virginia to offer free developmental screenings for children ages birth to five years old. The screenings will take place on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Goochland-Powhatan Community Services Board, located at 3058 River Road W, Goochland, VA. At this event, your child will participate in a series of activities designed to screen key areas of their development, including:
- Communication
- Motor skills
- Play and learning skills
- Behavior and attention
- Social-emotional skills
Following the screenings, parents and caregivers will receive valuable insights into their child's developmental progress and information on whether their skills are age-appropriate.
This is a wonderful opportunity to ensure your child's growth is on track. We encourage all families with young children to take advantage of this free service.
If you have any questions or would like additional information, please feel free to contact Jeanine Vassar (jvassar@goochlandva.us) with questions about screenings for children ages 0 to 2 and Wendy Travis (wtravis@glnd.k12.va.us) with questions about screenings for children ages 3 to 5.
