Youth Services News
October 30, 2015
Welcome
I'm trying out a new method of sharing information. Instead of clogging your inbox with announcements and news of note, I'll be sending a bi-weekly newsletter. However, I will still send individual emails for time sensitive news and updates.
I'd also like to share your news, so please email me with information about an upcoming event, a programming success story, or a recommended article, blog, or book.

Children’s Independent Films: PCFF Film Jury Night
Join the Providence Children’s Film Festival for this year’s third film jury roundup. In this unique real-world workshop experience, librarians will learn about children’s independent films by participating as an actual juror for the 2016 PCFF. Librarians will hone their film discussion skills with members of the public by sharing critical comments after each short film (kids go first). You will be surprised to see what is “obviously good” to some reviewers is “downright disagreeable” to others…BUT be ready to explain. Great opportunity to think about new ideas for programming events that increase access to thoughtful films and exercise critical thinking skills and in a fun way. Popcorn for all.
This workshop is part of the Media Smart Libraries program which was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Grant # LG-07-14-0045-14
Registration required. Limited to 25 participants.Monday, Nov 16, 2015, 06:00 PM
