The Second Annual Washington All-School Read February 28-March 22, 2019
When Roz opens her eyes for the first time, she discovers that she is alone on a remote, wild island. Why is she there? Where did she come from? And, most important, how will she survive in her harsh surroundings?
Yesterday students received their books for Washington’s second annual All-School Read! Our selected title is The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. Please click here for the family letter introducing our All-School Read.
Check out our All-School Read online for more information on our All-School Read, book description and author bio. Plus, find helpful links to our reading schedule, trivia questions and listen to chapters read by special guests and Washington Staff!
We would love to see pictures of your family enjoying The Wild Robot. Share your pictures using the hashtag #TimbyASR19.
Thank you and happy reading!

EFW Run/Walk Early Bird Registration--now through March 2nd!
Please consider joining us for the annual EFW Run/Walk which has a new name EFW Rush for Education. This event is Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Chestnut Commons, just southwest of Hart Park.
For those of you who are new to our school, or for those who have not had the opportunity to join us for this community event in the past, here is a little background on the Education Foundation of Wauwatosa. The EFW is a non-profit organization that funds innovative teaching ideas in our schools. The EFW supports our teachers and children and offers them opportunities beyond what the school budget can provide. By supporting this annual Run/Walk, we are “opening doors” for our students. At Washington, EFW has provided funds for our Motor Lab, Coding Club and Math books.
It is our sincere hope that you will join us this year and “walk or run” for education here in Wauwatosa. Even if you are unable to participate you can support the EFW Rush for Education by signing up for the t-shirt only. The event gets larger every year, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to join neighbors and friends for an enjoyable time. Refreshments, prizes, and trophies are just part of the fun.
Online early bird registration is open and runs through March 2. Participation is $25 per person for the timed 5K and $12 for the One Mile Fun Run and Walk. Please use this link to register: Registration

Food for thought...can you see yourself as a PTA board member? Open board positions for 2 year term: Treasurer, Vice President of Programming, President and Vice President. (More specifics on job descriptions to follow soon).
Our Glow Dance is in need of organizing. The date for the dance is April 12th and the DJ is already hired. We'd love to have a new group of parents take this on. It would require writing announcements, sending home permission slips, compiling a check-in list, design a sign up genius for volunteers and some one to fill out a facility use form. (The DJ brings black lights and activities so you're set up and clean up are minor). Please contact Denise Van Cuyk at denisevancuyk@gmail.com.
