3rd grade ELA - April 2nd and 4th
4th grade MATH - May 7th and 8th

Five Things You Need to Know
1 - SPOTLIGHT ON ART
We’ve been very busy in the art room! After establishing and reviewing basic elements of art this fall (what I call our “art ingredients”), students will start combining elements with genre work (our “recipes”). Genre means a subject or focus of your art. All students have been working on the genre of Still Life, or pictures of objects that don’t move - allowing artists to observe and notice details. Kinders and 2nd graders have been looking closely at flowers and creating works of art inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe and Vincent Van Gogh. 1st grade’s focus has been on fruit, using painted papers to create bowls and baskets of collaged compositions. 3rd has been working a lot with implied form - making our art appear 3D - and learning about shading and value. After practicing value by observing geometric forms and using different tools, we are now creating 3D looking fruit with chalk pastels. Finally, 4th Grade is taking inspiration from Henri Matisse to create layered still life compositions with patterns and overlapping objects of their choosing, doing life drawings and then painting their work.

2 - PLACEMENT
It is that time of year when we begin to think about "placement" for the 24-25 school year. Please read the following information for more on how this process works.
3 - PHYS ED / HEALTH SURVEY
Natick Public Schools is committed to providing all of our students with the best possible educational experience. Because of this, we conduct regular curriculum audits. This year, we are reviewing our current Health and Physical Education curriculum. We value the feedback from all of our stakeholders. We ask that you please complete this survey to provide us with feedback as we work to assess and improve our curriculum. Thank you in advance for your time in completing this survey.
4 - DISTRICT REPORT CARD
Please read the following for more information on our district's report card.
5 - ASAP REGISTRATION FOR THE FALL
24-25 Early Risers/ASAP New Family Registration: March 13 - April 10
Early Risers Before School (K - 4): 7AM to Start of School; ASAP After School (K - 8): School Dismissal to 6PM
Locations: Bennett-Hemenway, Brown, Lilja, Memorial, Kennedy, Wilson
Registration: Online only at www.ezchildtrack.com/natickasap/parent from 3/13 - 4/10. If interest exceeds capacity, a lottery of all applications received by April 10 will determine placement.
Space is limited. We recommend that families consider other options in case space is not available at Early Risers or ASAP. Here is a link to their flyer.
All the best to our families,
Aidan McCann, Principal
