Happy last week of May!
Thank you for all your support as we round the corner of our 2nd school year! We want to express our sincere appreciation to our Tamarack Community Group, all our family volunteers & to YOU for your patience as we grow along with your overall support & cheerleading! The last day of school is June 12th and we dismiss at 11:20am. All students will/can be provided lunch prior and buses will still run, leaving the school at the 11:20 dismissal.
If you are a sixth grade family, we invite you to celebrate your child’s promotion to middle school on the last day of school. Please come straight to the gym @ 8:05 am, for the ceremony as they shift from elementary students to 7th grade! You are welcome to bring siblings and other family members, there will be a sign in /sign out sheet at the main hallway. It has been an honor to get to know your child/children, they are incredible humans; change makers and future leaders in our community. Lucky us to be a part of their journey! After the ceremony, we invite them to stay for the remainder of the day or they are welcome to return home with you.
Let’s do this! Go Otters ♥️
Hillsboro Schools Foundation Grant Recipients
Congratulations to educators Sharon Angal, Maddie Ehl, Christine Goldmann and Colin Mejdrich, they were awarded over $11,000 for grants that will include materials for our OMSI Lab, PE engagement and Band instruments! The Hillsboro Schools Foundation awards thousands of dollars each year to well crafted and thoughtful grants in support of kids! All three of the grants written by Tamarack were awarded this year, pretty exciting! We are incredibly appreciative of the foundation and all they do! You can support their fundraising efforts too! Here is a link to their website and up and coming community events. https://hsfonline.org/

No pets allowed, but all other family members are welcome!
Here the 'jog' times for each class:

As previously mentioned:
Getting pledges/donations is not required but gladly welcomed. They can bring in $1 if they want, there is no minimum or maximum (please keep all money in their envelope)
They can just get flat rate donations, or have relatives, friends give a money pledge for how many laps they do (these are collected after the run) ex: $1.00 per lab and they did 13 laps, that person that put in the pledge would give $13.00
Packets can be returned before the run if they just get flat rate donations, or to be eligible for the prizes, which are listed on the front packets, they Must be turned in by Wednesday June 4th as we are nearing the end of the school year

2025-2026 School Year Notes - our 3rd year!
We will welcome you back to meet your child's teacher on August 28th @ 4:30-6:30 pm with a popsicle! This is how you will find out who your child's teacher is. If you are not able to make it, the classroom teacher will reach out and give you a call prior to the start of school. We do not take teacher requests, we work to create classrooms of collaborative learners who can be productive together and build relationships. I will send out any updates regarding new staff, once the office reopens in August.
You will receive a postcard with a QR code in the mail over the summer along with bussing information. The QR Code will lead to the Back to School Packets, you will not receive the whole printed packet. Note, it is my understanding that in the building of the community (neighborhood and streets) sometimes mail arrived late or not at all. I hope that is not the case this year but if you are concerned, the district website also houses all of the Back to School Packets. https://www.hsd.k12.or.us/for-families/back-to-school this will be updated later in the summer. Also, you can look up your child’s bus information at: https://www.hsd.k12.or.us/departments/transportation/mybus-student-route-lookup
Regarding the school supply list, we do not need all the things on that list right away. School supplies will be 'pooled' for the general school community to use. If you simply get your child a backpack and water bottle (Please label them) that’s enough :) If you have any hardships over purchasing these items-no worries, we can supply! If you do wish and can contribute to our school supplies, items we as a school truly need are, (thank you!):
Ticonderoga #2 pencils
Copy Paper
crayons/markers/colored pencils
hand sanitizer
highlighters
After we get up and moving, we may ask for contributions for other items, but truly this is enough and hopefully relieves anxiety about braving the school supply section of your local Target, etc...
Looking forward to kicking off our 3rd year together and meeting all our new Otters and their families!
Parent Square 25-26SY
Just a heads up because change is hard (at least for me), the Hillsboro School District will shift from using Remind to Parent Square for communication. It is very similar. Remind was bought out, so we will make this shift based on affordability and the similar access/capabilities it has while also consolidating multiple platforms (i.e. S’More newsletters). More info to come, nothing to do now 🙂
