March Newsletter

A Message from Mr. Larsen
I hope this message finds you well. I cannot believe the weather, and I certainly cannot believe that the month of February is nearing an end. It has been a fun, yet busy month at KMMS. I want to take a moment and highlight February's accomplishments.
Celebrating Student Achievements
Spring is an exciting time at Kasson-Mantorville Middle School as we celebrate the incredible accomplishments of our students in academics, athletics, and the arts.
KMMS Robotics Team Advances to State!
Our KMMS Robotics Team has been working hard all season, and their efforts have paid off! They will be heading to the State competition in St. Cloud, MN. We wish them the best of luck as they showcase their skills and innovation.
KMMS Choir Festival
Our KMMS Choir students showcased their vocal talents at the Middle School Choir Festival! This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to perform, learn from others, and celebrate the joy of music. As always, they shined brightly! Feel free to take a peek here.
KM Wrestling Advances to the Xcel Energy Center
A handful of our middle school wrestlers advanced to the team portion of the State Tournament. KM wrestles at 11 am today and have the opportunity to bring another State Championship home to Kasson-Mantorville.
Girls Hockey Team Wins State Championship!
Congratulations to our Girls Hockey Team for bringing home the state championship! Their dedication, teamwork, and perseverance have made our school community proud. Way to go, Wildcats!
Spring Play: Bestest Bedtime Stories as Told by Our Grandpa
Our talented students are preparing for the upcoming school play, Bestest Bedtime Stories as Told by Our Grandpa. This lighthearted and entertaining production will take the stage soon, and we encourage families to come out and support our young performers.
Showtimes are Friday, February 28 at 7 pm, Saturday, March 1 at 7 pm, and Sunday, March 2 at 2 pm. All shows are performed at the MN WiFi Performing Arts Center.
Behavior Expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Engaged
At KMMS, we continue to reinforce our core behavior expectations:
Be Safe – Make choices that protect yourself and others.
Be Respectful – Show kindness and consideration to peers, teachers, and staff.
Be Responsible – Take ownership of your actions and commitments.
Be Engaged – Be present, participate actively, and strive for success in all areas.
We encourage parents to reinforce these values at home to support a positive school culture.
Steered Straight
Steered Straight is an engaging and educational anti-vaping campaign designed to inform middle school students and their families about the dangers of vaping. Through impactful presentations, real-life stories, and practical resources, Steered Straight empowers students to make informed, healthy choices while encouraging families to support a vape-free lifestyle. Together, we can create a safer, healthier future for our youth!
Our middle school students will have the opportunity to attend on March 10. The 5th and 6th grade will visit the PAC from 10:00-11:00, and the 7th and 8th graders will visit from 1:00-2:50.
Strengthening the Parent-School Partnership
At KMMS, we believe that student success is best achieved when parents and schools work together. Here are a few ways we can strengthen our partnership:
Stay informed by reading school communications and attending events.
Encourage your child to embrace learning and extracurricular opportunities.
Communicate with teachers about your child's progress and any concerns.
Reinforce school expectations and values at home.
Thank you for being an integral part of our school community! We look forward to a fantastic month ahead.

Mr. Buchanan and members of our Social Studies department will be taking donations in the Commons tomorrow before school. He will be there from 7:15 am until the first hour bell rings.
The minimum donation to wear a hat is $1 dollar. Students or their families may donate more than $1 if they would like. We are hoping to raise some money in support of honoring our veterans.

Grandpa's a little out of practice when it comes to babysitting, but if he's ever going to get his bouncy grandkids to go to sleep, he's got to remember some bedtime stories fast. Meet the Witch who lives in a house made of broccoli, the magical fairies Lipitor and Miralax, and Jack who climbs a beanstalk - and needs a little help from the stage crew to get down. You may think you know your fairy tales, but not the way Grandpa tells them!

Saturday, March 1st @ 7pm
Sunday, March 2nd @ 2pm
