Ellen Kleimenhagen, Bay Harbor Volunteer
Mrs. Ellen Kleimenhagen has been volunteering at Bay Harbor for more than 10 years. Four days per week, she helps kindergarten students with reading and assists staff with various classroom projects. Bay Harbor kindergarten teacher Blake Bierowski considers her a true blessing. “Ellen is so dedicated to helping the kids achieve their goals and is adaptable to our schedules and the kids' ever-changing needs,” she said.
Ellen loves volunteering, and enjoys giving encouragement and a little extra help to her students. “It’s rewarding to get to know the children,” said Ellen. “When they ask if they can come work with me at school or if I can come to their birthday party, it’s really sweet.”
Ellen’s own children went through HSSD, and now she gets to see her grandchildren at Bay Harbor while volunteering at their school. If you would like to be a star volunteer like Ellen, visit hssdschools.org/community/vip to learn more.
