Nurse's Notes- Ms. Lamantia
Sometimes it can be difficult to make the decision about when you should keep your kiddos home. Our school policy states that you should not send your child to school if he/she has:
- Fever in the past 24 hours - Must be fever free for 24 hours without medication
- Vomiting in the past 24 hours
- Diarrhea in the past 24 hours
- Chills
- Sore throat
- Strep throat (must have been taking an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school)
- Bad cold, with a very runny nose or bad cough, especially if it has kept the child awake at night
- Head lice
- Pink eye - Must be on medicated eye drops for 24 hours
Remember if your little Bulldog will be staying home email us at CAS@hcsdk12.org to let us know.

Let Grow January Theme
Hello Parents and Caregivers,
What better time than the start of a new year to explore fresh ideas, new perspectives,
and playfully tinker and reinvent using what’s around us?! Step back as your child dives
into a project that lets them takeoff as a creative and divergent thinker!
The thing is, we want to give our kids the very best of everything—the best education,
food, family life, etc. But the one thing we find hard to give them is the thing we loved
most as kids: Time to just play, experiment, daydream, make things, explore, be. Time
to figure out something we wanted to do, and do it. That isn’t wasted time. When you
discover something you like to do without anything riding on it—no grades, no trophies,
no pressure—you are discovering who you are and who you may become.
With this month’s project, your child’s interests will draw them into tinkering, playing,
constructing, and experimenting. It will fire up their minds to think outside the box and begin discovering who they are!
CREATIVITY
January:
Think Outside the Box- Project Ideas
It’s the start of a new year, and what better time to start fresh with new ideas! Look around you for opportunities to repurpose and reinvent, to reimagine and recreate. Start with existing or old objects, and build and create new ways of using them.
- Build an indoor (or outdoor) fort or tent.
- Make something creative out of recycled containers & materials.
- Use sewing skills and old/outgrown clothing to
- make a new, unique piece of clothing or other item.
- Change something in your room. (Run your idea by your parents first.)
- Create a new recipe.
- Make a new version of one of your favorite meals/snacks.
- Make a poster or other decoration for your room (drawing, collage, etc.).
- Design and build your own invention using things you have on hand.
- Invent a new game (or variation on an existing game) and teach it to your friends.
- Learn a new dance routine or invent a new one.
- Try out a new musical instrument and create your own tune to play.
- Be a songwriter and write your own song.
- Design and build a new feature or gadget for your bike or scooter.
