Message from Mrs. Johansen
Dear Wildcat Community,
I have included a few updates in this newsletter for families.
Kudos to our Musical Groups: Congratulations to our Wildcat musicians! Over the past few weeks, our students involved in chorus, band, and orchestra have all had performances! I've received many compliments from the directors and audience members about how well-behaved and engaged our students were during each of the performances. That makes me so proud! Sincere thanks to Mrs. Kurka, Ms. Martinez, and Mr. Photopoulos for their hard work in preparing our musicians for these performances.
School Musical: Is your student interested in being a part of a school musical? I'm absolutely thrilled to announce that we will have a school musical this year at Sandburg! Students can be involved in a musical at any level: performer, stage crew, advertising, artistry, etc. Stay tuned for more information coming soon!
Academic Support at Sandburg: We have opportunities for academic support at Sandburg! This week, we started our math support after school. See the image below for more information. Twice a week, we offer lunch time study hall for students who would like a quiet place to work in a classroom during the lunch period. Our students participating in the Multi-lingual program have an opportunity for after school language support that is led by two of our Multilingual teachers.
Yearbooks: Our annual Sandburg yearbook is now on sale. All ordering is online and the cost is $16.00. ybpay.com Code: 14798525 The deadline for ordering is March 21st.
Parent/Teacher Conferences: Conferences will be held on November 25th and 26th. We have limited conference times and are dedicated to making sure we have crucial conversations with students and parents we really need to connect with. This week, we have sent invitations to the families we need to set a conference meeting with. In the coming week, we will open up the schedule for other conference requests. Please know, we are not able to have a conference with every parent given the limited time. However, we are always happy to have a conversation with parents regarding your child's progress at any time.
Parents of students with IEPs/504s: On November 6th at 5:30 pm, Winston Campus is having a presentation for parents on how to participate in the process, understand your parent rights, and support your child. More information can be found at this link HERE.
D15 Special Olympics: If your child is interested in being apart of the D15 Special Olympics team, please see this FLYER for more information.
Thanksgiving Meal Assistance: From the Buehler YMCA: Thanks to a generous donation from Jason's Foods Inc., the Buehler YMCA will be distributing 400 turkeys to help make your holiday season a little brighter. It’s our pleasure to invite you and your family to pick up a turkey on Friday, November 15, between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM. See the flyers below for more information.
- Support from our Student Services Team: Our Outreach For Assistance Form is for you to fill out if your family is in need of assistance. Please feel free to reach out to our CSMS clinician team with any questions. Our students have access to a form to discreetly request assistance from a clinician while in school, as well.
Have a wonderful weekend!
