Region 12 Counselors are an essential part of our education system, and we are excited to celebrate you at the upcoming 11th annual Counselor Appreciation Luncheon on February 9th. Along with recognizing the counselors' efforts, the event will also feature the selection of the 2024 School Counselors of the Year.

Counselor Appreciation Luncheon

It's time to celebrate National School Counseling Week and appreciate all your hard work! On February 9th, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, we will be hosting the Annual ESC Region 12 Counselor Appreciation Luncheon. ⏲️Region 12 Counselor Time Tracking Reporting and District Analysis Checklist

With the 80/20 requirement for school counselors in Texas, it can be difficult to navigate the requirements of SB 179. We designed a "Counselor Time Tracking Reporting & District Analysis Checklist (based on the law) to help you with this process.

We also have a School Counselor Requirement & Resource Document that shows all the times that a school counselor is listed in statute (Texas Administrative Code and Texas Education Code). This was designed to help school counselors know and see when they are listed in statute.

2024 Asthma Scholarship Award

The Texas Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Society (TAAIS) Memorial Foundation is pleased to announce the 2024 TAAIS Memorial Foundation Asthma Scholarship Award. This $3,000 one-time award will be granted to up to five qualified and deserving high school seniors in Texas who suffer from asthma. The deadline to apply for the award is March 1, 2024. Educators Credit Union’s Ralphael “Ralph” Barksdale Jr. Memorial Scholarship

This months Stellar Counselor is Shannon Baker-Howard from Rapoport Academy. Shannon is an outstanding counselor who prioritizes the needs of her students. She is renowned for her willingness to go the extra mile in providing them with the care and support they require to succeed. Her dedication and commitment to her role make her the heart of the campus. It brings us great pleasure to acknowledge and celebrate her remarkable efforts this month.

Each month, we'd like to highlight one of our Region 12 Counselors for the fantastic things being done to support students and teachers. We are thankful for the hard work put in each day and look forward to the great things happening!
