Help Keep Brightwood's Funding! (AIF)
Complete the AIF Household Income Survey via your Parent Portal. The AIF helps to ensure that Brightwood receives all the funding we are eligible for to serve ALL students equitably. We recently RE-QUALIFIED for $122,000 in title I funding for the 2024-2025 school year and we need your help in keeping that funding source for future years.
Every student will continue to receive breakfast and lunch at no cost. Separate from the National School Lunch Program, this data may help students and schools qualify for additional state and federal funding to serve all students equitably and offer services such as free wireless hotspots, after-school programs, SAT/ACT fee waivers, lower rates for district's telecommunications, and grants.
Please visit AUSD AIF Form to complete the form. You will need to log into your Parent Portal Account. One form is required per student. If you require assistance, you can contact our Main Office for support
First Day Procedures - 8/13/24
All students 1st-8th grade will meet their teacher on the upper playground first thing in the morning. Signs will be posted for students to line up with their teacher’s name. TK & Kindergarten will meet their teachers on the Kindergarten playground. TK/K parents may walk their children onto the K playground on the first day of school only.
Classroom Assignments/ Schedules
Student classroom assignments/schedules will be available in the PARENT PORTAL beginning on or before August 12th at 4:00pm. We will not be posting the class rosters outside of the office.
Due to class sizes there is a possibility of the need for students to be reorganized into different classes after the first day of school. We will notify you if that change is needed.
Parent requests to change to a particular teacher/classroom will NOT be granted. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Home/School Communication
We encourage you to visit the school website often and to subscribe to the calendar. Our school and district also utilize Blackboard Connect, a communication system that enables us to send out mass phone and/or email messages with important information to all parents. In order for the system to be effective, it is imperative that parents update the on-line information through the PARENT PORTAL as soon as possible. We encourage all parents to include a current email address when you update your child’s information.
Brightwood PTA
We encourage you to join our wonderful PTA. The Brightwood PTA supports our students and families in new and innovative ways. PTA is a great way to show your support to Brightwood School. I strongly encourage you to join PTA during their annual membership drive. For more information about PTA visit our school website www.brightwoodelementary.org and click on the parents tab.
