School Spirit
Every Tuesday is Trailblazer Tuesday! Please have your child wear their Sabal shirt or our school colors, red, white and blue to show their school spirit!
4 Houses, 1 Family
Our new house system fosters a sense of belonging, teamwork, and leadership. It incorporates competitions, point systems, and events that allow students to earn points for their houses, encouraging engagement and school spirit.
Each student, grade 3-6, is a member of one of four Houses, each with its own special color and meaning:
Amistad (Red) – Friendship
Isibindi (Green) – Courage
Reveur (Blue) – Dreamers
Altruismo (Black) – Givers
Fridays are house days! Have your child wear their house colors to represent the house they belong to and show their house pride! It's time for Kindergarten-2nd grade students to select a house!
1/10-2nd Grade
1/24-1st Grade
2/7-Kindergarten
All students will meet on the blacktop and spin the wheel to see what house they will be in! We are excited to have ALL trailblazers in a house.
We love seeing our Trailblazers showing their school spirit but please make sure it is school appropriate and they are following the BPS dress code .
2024-2025 Testing Schedule
Parent Notification of State Testing Results
After progress monitoring assessment testing is complete, known as Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST), you will receive your child’s scores through FOCUS and a paper copy will be sent in your child’s backpack. If you need any help in discussing the results please reach out to your child’s teacher or the front office. Translations available upon request.
PM2 Reports went home on December 20th. The score sheets are also available through your parent FOCUS account. Directions are below.
PBIS Information
What is PBIS? PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. It is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavior, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable, and safe learning environments where everyone thrives. We have successfully implemented PBIS at Sabal for many, many years. Your child might talk to you often about Trailbucks. These are given out for good behavior, following the Sabal expectations, and going above and beyond. As a school we have quarterly rewards for the students to participate in. On January 10th we are having our annual hot cocoa bar. Your child can participate by giving $25 trailbucks that they have earned for this reward. Ask your child how many trailbucks they have to keep them on track to attend this event! There are so many opportunities for them to earn rewards. Let’s stay positive and continue to work as a team to ensure your child’s success!
PTO Information
If you have any questions about PTO or any items below please email sabalpto@gmail.com

School Policies & Procedures
Arrival to School
- Gates will be open from 7:30-8:00 for student arrival.
- All students must be in classrooms ready to learn by 8:00 am.
- We do not have supervision on campus until 7:30. Please do not drop your child off before the gates are open. If you require before school child care, please email our Brevard After School Coordinator; Kim Klein at klein.kim@brevardschools.org.
- Tardy students must be signed in by parent/guardian at the office. Please do not drop them off without accompanying them inside.
- No student check out after 2:00pm Monday-Thursday and 12:45pm on Fridays.
Car loop:
- All vehicles are required to have a 2024-2025 car tag. If you need one please stop in the front office prior to 2:00. If you do not have a car tag you will be asked to park your car and go to the office to provide identification.
- Please keep car tags visible until your child has entered the car.
- Parents, please remain in your vehicle. Sabal staff will assist your child getting into the car.
- Students may only enter and exit the car on the passenger side of the vehicle. If your child requires assistance getting in and out of the car please pull forward to the pedestrian crossing beyond the covered carline.
- Please do not drop off or pick up children in the bus loop at anytime.
- Make sure you stay in your car and do not walk through the car loop. This is a safety concern.
- Please be patient as we teach routines and procedures. Our system does get better with time, but everyone is learning.
Visitors on Campus
- Visitors are only permitted for scheduled, supervised events.
- Reach out to your child's teacher or Title 1 coordinator to coordinate any volunteering.
- Friday Family Lunches will be returning in the fall.
Rainy Dismissal
- If there is no lightning in the area, we will dismiss students regularly. We monitor weather apps and if there is lightning in the area, we will hold students.
- If you want to change transportation on a rainy day it still has to be submitted in writing. We do not take transportation changes over the phone.
Parent Lunches
- Seating is outside so weather permitted and limited.
- You must sign in at the front office with a government issued ID.
- You must be on the approved contact list to have lunch with a child.
Friday Early Release Days
Don't forget, every Friday is early release day. All students will be dismissed beginning at 1:15 p.m. Please make the necessary arrangements for your child to be picked up on time. Consider taking advantage of services offered through our School Age Child Care program.
Attendance & Tardies
Attendance is extremely important! Campus opens at 7:30 and our cafeteria offers free breakfast to all students. Instruction begins promptly at 8:00am and all students are expected to be in class ready to learn. We will be working with the district and reaching out to families that have excessive absences or tardies to see how to assist getting to school. If your child is frequently late a meeting with administration will be scheduled. Your child is more likely to succeed in academics when they attend.
Student Accident Insurance
In collaboration with an A+rated insurance provider, Brevard Schools is recommending a LOW COST, NO DEDUCTIBLE Student Accident Insurance option that is a one-time payment, per child, per school year. See the attached flyer below for more information.
