We are excited to be hosting a COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic at Upper Campus this Saturday, January 22nd from 10am to 3pm to offer COVID-19 vaccines to anyone aged 5 and older, as well as booster doses for eligible persons ages 12 and over. This event is open to the public so feel free to bring your non-GLOBE friends and family!

On Tuesday we communicated an article about a recent event where GLOBE students connected with Chinese students from the Chongqing Shapingba No. 1 Experimental Elementary School. You can view the article here.

Part of GLOBE's Strategic Plan focuses on the development of authentic cultural exchange opportunities that connect students of the same age around the world. This year, 8th grade students will be piloting such opportunities.

Please be reminded of The GLOBE Academy uniform policies, which can be found in detail in our Family Handbook here. We are resetting expectations for dress code at both campuses over the coming weeks, and may speak directly with students, reach out to parents, and/or ask for parents to bring in alternative clothing as needed.

Upper Campus

8th grade Trip Information

The next payment ($150) for the 8th grade trip to Savannah was due on January 15, 2022.

Please visit https://www.mypaymentsplus.com/welcome and login to make the next payment. If you have not yet remitted your payment, please do so right away.

We are now collecting information about T-Shirt sizes, housing requests, and medical information. Please complete this form by January 31, 2022. Reach out to Mrs. Limor (jlimor@theglobeacademy.net) with any questions.

Will your student return next August for the 2022-2023 school year? The completion of the 'Intent to Return' form will be due Friday, February 4, 2022. Current students do not need to enter the lottery each year.

New siblings intending to enroll at GLOBE must enter into the lottery. If you have siblings to apply for the lottery, information is included in the survey. Click here to view more details about re-enrollment and siblings.

Tennis

Congratulations to all those who made the 2022 boys and girls tennis teams! There will be no tennis practice this Wednesday, January 19. There will be practice for the boys and girls tennis teams on Thursday, January 20 at Leslie Beach Tennis Courts from 4pm to 6pm.

There will be a parent meeting via Google Meet on Wednesday, January 26 at 7:30pm

Information regarding this and other items will be sent home in a welcome packet with students, so be on the lookout for the packet and an email with the meeting link.

Monday, January 24 is 8th Grade Recognition Night!

We will recognize 8th grade basketball players, cheerleaders and their parents between the boys and girls games against Renfroe MS.

Girls soccer tryouts

Tryouts for the girls soccer team are scheduled for February 1 and 2, from 4pm to 6pm at Silverbacks Field. Students must have a physical on file in order to participate.

Registration for GLOBE Enrichment spring classes is open. There are enrichment options available Monday through Friday afternoons at both Upper and Lower Campus. Visit our website for class information. We also have a limited number of aftercare spaces available. Email cclines@theglobeacademy.net for details.

Weekly COVID-19 testing

Thank you to everyone who attended the COVID-19 testing event on-campus this week. Viral Solutions will be back on campus again next week to provide all students and staff with access to free rapid antigen testing.

If you signed your student up for any of the past clinics this semester, you do not need to fill out the consent form again; they will be tested each week. If you have not filled out the consent form, but wish for your child to access weekly COVID-19 testing, please sign up here.

If your GLOBE student is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 please report their vaccination status here. If you or your child are looking for a place to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, look no further than The GLOBE Academy on January 22! (see information earlier in this newsletter).
