Supporting Emotional Regulation in the Classroom
A student's capacity to appropriately regulate his or her emotions directly affects academic performance, behavior and their overall ability to be successful. In addition, teaching and supporting the important skill of feeling regulation can be pivotal in establishing a positive climate, fostering positive peer relationships and encouraging appropriate behavior in the classroom.
In this session, participants will learn what feeling regulation is, what it looks like in students, and how to support this practice. Specific tools, programs, and interventions will be shared, designed to help educators effectively implement feeling regulation strategies into the school environment. Collaboration and planning time will also be given to support implementation strategies.
