It has been a tough year for EdTech. First, Jamboard and now Flipgrid. If you haven't heard, Microsoft Flip as we know it is being retired on September 30, 2024. So many emotions. Sad. Grateful. Disappointed. Thankful. I've seen EdTech tools and companies come and go for the last 12+ years. Flipgrid was different. (Yes, in the end it was called Microsoft Flip, but to many of us, it'll always be Flipgrid.) The product was unique. There have been quite a few products that could replace the use of Flip but as we know it is never a true 1:1 replacement. Screencastify has Submit which they are highlighting as a possible replacement. Padlet is another alternative that may work for you. Book Creator allows you to create digital books but they can be collaborative and there is a video component. Finally, Canva can do it too but again not as seemlessly as Flip could do it.
Your collection is one of your greatest assets as a librarian. With the right guidance, you can become a pro at protecting and repairing your books so they last longer, reach more readers, and leave money in your budget.
