The Olympic Rings have Arrived in Paris
29 meters wide, 15 meters high
The Olympic rings, weighing 30 tons, were placed last night on the Eiffel Tower. Technical and industrial performance. There will be no other giant rings in the capital during the Olympics.
The iron of the Eiffel Tower has found new friends in steel, five rings green, black red, yellow and blue. For a little over an hour and a half last night, the Eiffel Tower operating company and the ArcelorMittal teams worked to climb the Olympic rings to a height of 70 meters, between the 1st and 2nd floor. Around thirty people worked to obtain one of the iconic images of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Sad day for EdTech
It has been a tough year for EdTech. First, Jamboard and now Flipgrid. If you haven't heard, Microsoft Flip as we know it is being retired on September 30, 2024. So many emotions. Sad. Grateful. Disappointed. Thankful. I've seen EdTech tools and companies come and go for the last 12+ years. Flipgrid was different. (Yes, in the end it was called Microsoft Flip, but to many of us, it'll always be Flipgrid.) The product was unique. There have been quite a few products that could replace the use of Flip but as we know it is never a true 1:1 replacement. Screencastify has Submit which they are highlighting as a possible replacement. Padlet is another alternative that may work for you. Book Creator allows you to create digital books but they can be collaborative and there is a video component. Finally, Canva can do it too but again not as seemlessly as Flip could do it.
