Longacre Weekly News

EVERYONE LEARNING, EVERYONE LEADING
Dear Longacre Families,
We had a great first week of 2025 as we settled back into our school routines! As we reach the halfway point of the school year, it’s a great time to reflect on the goals we've set. Goal-setting, creating action plans to achieve those goals, and tracking our progress are all essential parts of our school culture.
Our students learn to use the following three strategies to set goals:
Set a goal- students set academic and personal goals and write them in their Leadership Notebooks
Create an action plan- students develop specific, measurable plans to reach their goals. For example, if a student wants to become more fluent with her multiplication facts, her plan may be to spend five minutes per day working on a computer math fact game.
Find an accountability partner- research indicates that when we write down our goals we have a 50% chance of achieving them, but when we have someone keeping us accountable for implementing our action plan we have over a 95% chance of achieving our goals. Our students pick a classmate to be their accountability partners. Accountability partners follow three steps: 1. Listen- listen to their partner talk about how he/she is progressing towards meeting it; 2. Encourage- offer praise for partner’s efforts and progress; 3. Suggest- offer ways partner can improve or revise his/her action plan to increase his/her success in reaching the goals.
We encourage you to talk with your children about their progress towards their goals and spend some time setting goals as a family. You’ll find that your children will be great accountability partners for you as well!
As always, feel free to contact me or the main office at 248-489-3733 if you have any questions.

Culture of Equity & Innovation Community Survey
Dear Community Members,
Your opinion matters! We invite you to participate in an important survey aimed at assessing our school district's culture regarding equity and innovation:
-Equity: Each student receives what they need to develop to their full academic and social potential.
-Innovation: The process of introducing new methods, approaches, or technologies into the learning environment to significantly improve teaching and learning outcomes.
Your insights will help us identify strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring that our educational environment meets the needs of all students.
Objective: To assess the organization's culture regarding equity and innovation and identify areas for improvement.
Your feedback is crucial in shaping a more equitable and innovative educational experience for all students. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and will close on January 17, 2025. Your responses will be kept confidential and will be used solely for the purpose of improving our district’s practices.
Thank you for your participation and for helping us create a better learning environment for our students!
