Welcome back! We hope everyone had a restful and refreshing Spring Break and is recharged for the final seven weeks of the 2024–2025 school year.

We strongly urge all parents to prioritize our upcoming parent-only event, Protecting Our Kids: Recognizing and Preventing Online Exploitation and Violent Influences. This important session will equip you with essential tools for parenting in today’s digital world. FBI Special Agents and members of the Local Task Force will la powerful presentation on the growing threat of violent online networks targeting minors. Two sessions are being offered, April 24 @ Hoggard High and April 29 @ Blair Elementary at 6pm.

Freedom School is open to rising 3rd – 8th grade students that attend a public school in the New Hanover County School District. Our Freedom School will take place June 16, 2025 to July 25, 2025! Programming is free and runs on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and includes breakfast, lunch, snacks and bus transportation in partnership with New Hanover County Schools. Scholar applications will be released on April 21, 2025.

We believe in an intergenerational leadership model. That’s why our program is staffed primarily by college students and recent college graduates, with at most a 10:1 child to adult ratio. As a result, many children and youth make significant gains in reading achievement and don’t experience any summer learning loss.

During EOG testing, students will have the opportunity to use the restroom before starting their test and at two designated break times provided during the test administration. In case of an emergency, students may leave the room; however, we aim to maintain a focused testing environment for all students. Additionally, students will be required to turn off their phones and smartwatches and store them in their bookbags, which will be kept in the hallway to minimize distractions.
