Staff Spotlight
Mr. Herbert: Drummin Herbie
This week's staff spotlight focus is on Mr. Herbert. Mr. Herbert teaches Engineering Essentials and Technology at FCMS.
Mr. Herbert attended Grace College in Winona Lake, IN. He double majored in Youth Ministry and Information Technology. This is his 11th year teaching. Before teaching, he was a Chromebook technician at the high school starting in the fall of 2012. He has taught in FCCSC his whole career. Mr. Herbert spends the first two periods at the middle school before transferring to the high school for the remainder of the day. In addition to teaching at both the middle and high school, he is the FCA sponsor at both the middle and high school and the ESports, Robotics, and Programming club sponsor at the high school. Mr. Herbert is active in the community, leading youth in his church. He is also married with three children.
Mr. Herbert is a huge gamer, he also streams on Twitch. His favorite games are The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Super Mario, iRacing, and Rocket League. He also used to be a PlayStation person but now he primarily plays on PC and Switch. He enjoys watching soccer and NASCAR and his favorite teams are the Seattle Sounders who play in the MLS, Indy Eleven who play in the USL, and 23XI in NASCAR. In school, he was highly involved with the band playing percussion, FCA, and an Academic Team. Last but not least, he was also in a Metallica cover band with some of his friends.
FCMS is lucky to have Mr. Herbert.

🎄CHRISTMAS DRIVE🎄
Dear Franklin County Community,
As we know the holiday seasons are coming up very fast! Franklin County Middle School is collecting money so we can go out and buy gifts for any students who may be in need this holiday season. We wanted to reach out to the community for anyone who is willing to help out and donate cash and/or gift cards so that we can buy shirts, pants, socks, sweaters etc. Please do not feel obligated to donate, but we would greatly appreciate any donations for the students. Please contact Rachel Ratz @ 765-647-6040 ext. 1109 or can drop off at the front office of the middle school by November 20, 2024. Thank you from everyone at FCMS!
Washington D.C. Trip
Recently, an email went out to all 6th and 7th grade parents for next year's Washington, D.C. trip. Your child may only be in 6th grade this year, but next year, he/she will be in the 7th grade. We take the trip every two years and include both grades.
We are taking a survey on what type of trip you would be interested in learning more about at our meeting. We need to finalize everything with the company before having the meeting. Please try to take the survey by November 6, 2024. We will tally up those numbers and contact the company to finalize our cost, etc. for the trip. We hope to have a meeting before Thanksgiving break. There will be several options at the meeting for ways to raise the money so your child can attend. Stay tuned for that email by November 12.
If you did not receive the survey, please email Amy Mitchum at amitchum@fccsc.k12.in.us. We sent it to all emails taken from PowerSchool. If you have additional questions about the trip, please add them into the survey, and I will be sure to address them at the meeting.
Thank you!
