Welcome back to another exciting and wonderful year at Islip Middle School! We hope you had a fantastic summer, filled with quality time spent with family and friends. Now, it's time to dive into a new school year filled with endless opportunities for growth and learning
.
We understand that the summer break is a time to recharge your batteries and relax. We hope you had the chance to do just that! As we start this new school year, we encourage you to bring all the positive energy you can muster. A positive mindset can make a world of difference in your academic and personal growth. Let's begin this year with enthusiasm and determination to make it the best one yet!
At Islip Middle School, we believe that getting involved in school activities is a crucial part of the middle school experience. Whether it's joining a club, participating in a sports team, or taking part in community service projects, there are so many ways for you to get involved and make the most of your time here. We encourage you to explore the various opportunities available and find something that sparks your interest.
For students who are new to Islip Middle School, we want to let you know that you will receive your laptops within the first few days of school. These laptops will be an essential tool for your learning journey, so please remember to bring your fully charged computer on the first day of school. Having your computer ready to go will ensure a smooth transition into our digital learning environment.
We are excited to have you back at Islip Middle School and look forward to an amazing year ahead. Let's make the most of every opportunity and create wonderful memories together. Here's to a successful and fulfilling school year!
Extending positive thoughts from a friendly middle school,

Middle School Families,
No doubt you're excited for the 2024-25 school year to begin. It is an exciting time of year! The Middle School team has created an amazing world for students to spend the day. IMS is a terrific place to learn, grow, and have fun. New friendships will be created, and old friendships will be re-ignited. The year will be filled with lots of activities, learning, and building entertainment. We have thought provoking as well as fun filled advisories, intramurals, school sports, and clubs for you to join and keep you involved and connected to the Islip spirit which travels through all of us here at the middle school. I encourage you to get involved and make your middle school year the best year ever!
In support of all our student’s endeavors at Islip Middle School, please be aware there is a NO CELL PHONE usage while in the building during the school day.
GO BUCS!
Enjoy,

Welcome Back IMS!!!
We are so excited to have the students back in the building and have the halls buzzing with the sounds of their excitement at seeing their friends.
In our first couple of weeks back we will be meeting with each team during Advisory to discuss some expectations for this school year. Our three big focuses are our no cell phone policy, computer etiquette, and our dress code.
As we did last year, IMS will remain a cell phone free building for students. Students should leave their phones and AirPods in their lockers or backpacks and they should be “off”. Our cell phone policy, with additional details, can be found both in your child’s planner and also on the IMS website.
All Islip Middle School students have or will be receiving a laptop with an Islip issued carry case. We ask that students charge their laptops daily and are prepared for class each day. Students may also bring their chargers to school or use the chargers in the dining halls when needed. Parents are able to purchase insurance each school year for the device, which we highly suggest. Additionally, students are responsible for these devices and any issues with the device should be reported to Ms. Unverzagt in Room 129.
Students are coming to school to learn and we ask that they dress appropriately to do this. Our Islip Middle School Planner provides a detailed dress code section. I once heard Dr. Martin explain appropriate attire to a group of students with the analogy, “You wouldn’t wear a tuxedo to the beach and you wouldn’t wear a bathing suit to a wedding,” so let’s please make sure that what we are wearing to school is in fact appropriate for the learning environment.
My door is always open, my email and phone always available. Please, reach out with any questions, concerns, or compliments.
We can’t wait to make this a great year at Islip Middle School.
