Charger Chatter
Week of 1/19/25
A message from Mr. Zelenski, Associate Principal
Hi Charger Nation,
The Spring Semester is in full swing and our Chargers are all working hard in the classroom, in the arts, and in athletics. I can't believe we are already gearing up for the 3rd week of the Spring Semester.
This past Monday our Instructional Team welcomed in some of our Charger Parents for our first Parent Preview Learning Walks of the school year. This was a great opportunity for our parents to get a look at what our teachers and students are doing on a daily basis. The experience ended with a Q&A Panel of some of our Student Council who help define what the Charger Way is for our student body. Our staff wants to thank these parents for taking the time out of their day to come in as both our teachers and students loved having you all on campus. There will be one more opportunity for our parents of incoming freshman to take part in so keep up to date with the Charger Chatter so you don't miss out!
We are also gearing up for Course Selection for the 2025-2026 school in just a few weeks. Over the next few weeks, information will be coming out about what courses students will be eligible to sign up for. Our Counseling Team is ready to help guide our students in selecting their courses to help maximize their learning and being prepared for life after Springs. The Spring Semester provides a multitude of opportunities for our students to showcase their skills and passions, so I encourage all of you to find an evening over the next few months to come to campus and experience either an athletic event, showcase, or informational meeting. These opportunities can help our students get a better idea of all the ways they can get involved.
One unique opportunity will take place tomorrow. The CCISD Ag Show was originally scheduled for Wednesday during the day, but with the cold temperatures on the way, the show has been moved to Monday. The show will begin at 8am at the West Barn (2155 W. Nasa Blvd. Webster, TX).
As many of you already know, Monday is a scheduled holiday for us to celebrate the memory and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr. This is a great time for us to reflect on how far our country has come as well as how our CCISD Core Values can help continue our growth.
The district has also announced all campuses and campus activities will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday so our families can focus on keep safe and warm. Enjoy this unexpected time with family and bundle up!
I hope you all have a great week! It's THE CHARGER WAY!
Sincerely,
Mr. Zelenski

If a student is wanting to start a new club, he/she can pick up club forms in the 1100/1200 from Ms. Huerta, the pod secretary. The link provided shows all active clubs on campus and its sponsor. More information about meeting times is forthcoming with lightning lunch scheduling being finalized.
Helping Your Student Use Lightning Lunch Productively
During Lightning Lunch each student gets 30 minutes of lunch and 30 minutes of tutorials. In order for everyone to have a safe and meaningful lunch time it is imperative that all students sign up for at minimum 3 sessions per week using the RTI scheduler app. The only exception is seniors who have 6 and 7th period off.
You can help your student make good choices by ensuring they have registered for the tutorials. While there are not many grades yet, they will be coming in very soon and it is always good to be prepared. Clubs will also be starting soon!
Please sit with your Charger and have him/her show you where he/she is going. See the steps below:
1. Log on to the student SSO portal.
2. Click the RTI Scheduler app (shown in the upper right)
3. Navigate to the week of August 19th on calendar view.
4. You should see 3 sessions selected, if you do not there will be a blue "choose a session" button to click. A list of your students available teachers will populate.
--> See the picture below for an example of what it will look like. In this example a student has one tutorial selected (Silent reading study hall) and can select another 4 using the blue "Choose a Session" button.
Extra tips:
- Have your charger check skyward grades to make the best choices for tutorials.
- Check the Lightning Lunch section in the CSHS website for tutorial schedules and lots of helpful information.
