For those who missed picture day, do not worry! We will have a make up day sometime in October. Look for more information to come.
Finally, please check out the upcoming PTA events below, as some new events were added.
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend. We look forward to another amazing week ahead!

Movie Lunch Monday!
Congratulations to our students for earning their first School-wide Incentive of a Movie Lunch. They've been working hard on following the school-wide expectations of our 4 B's: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, and Be Kind.
We will watch a movie or short film on Monday during lunch. Keep up the good work!
Kingsley Staff Shout Outs
We would like to invite you to recognize our Kingsley staff members with a shoutout. If you have a postitive comment to share with any of our staff members, please complete this FORM. Shoutouts will be shared with staff members in their weekly newsletter.
Calling students to participate in Reflections!
All Kingsley students are invited to participate in the PTA Reflections program! This nationally sponsored art contest provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts, which boost student confidence and align with our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) goals. Entries will have the chance to advance to the Council, Region, State and National Levels!
Here’s how you can help support your student’s participation:
Read more about the Reflections program and this year's theme, "Accepting Imperfection."
Encourage your student to start creating! They can make a drawing, painting, dance routine, poem, short story, song, film … how they interpret this year’s theme is up to them.
Learn about the categories for entries and look over the contest rules.
Entries are due Friday, Nov. 1
Drop off visual art and written projects in the front office. Digital entries (music, dance, film, photography) can be turned into the office on a flash drive, CD or DVD, or uploaded to a free hosting service (Vimeo, YouTube) and emailed to kingsleypta.reflections@gmail.com.
Look out for more information in upcoming Kingsley Connections! Questions? Email Colleen Malone at kingsleypta.reflections@gmail.com
New Butterfly Garden At Kingsley
We’re excited to share that the Girl Scout Troop 56602 launched a wonderful initiative to create a butterfly garden right here at Kingsley! This project aims to enhance our community’s natural beauty while providing a habitat for local butterflies and other pollinators. The troop worked hard to build a garden, plant flowers, educate others about the importance of pollinators, and foster a love for nature. We are grateful for the following troop members who helped bring this vibrant garden to life!
Save the Date for Reading Games
Our favorite reading competition is coming on Saturday, February 22, 2025! The Reading Games is a free and fun reading competition for students in grades 3-8. The mission of the Reading Games is to encourage reading in Grades 3-8, expose kids to different genres, series, authors, and topics, as well as to foster teamwork and responsibility. All this occurs as teams of 5 - 8 students, led by a parent or other volunteer community member prepare for a fun competitive day of book trivia!
Students form teams and collaborate to read nine books from one of two book lists.
List 1 is geared for readers in third and fourth grade.
List 2 is geared for readers in fifth and sixth grade.
Students in seventh and eighth grade who want to participate should read from List 2.
Like prior years, The Reading Games hopes to accommodate every team that wants to participate and register during the registration period. Each team will need an adult team leader to register the team for the event, act as a point person for all communications, and help their team prepare for The Games competition day.
In addition, each team will be asked to send a volunteer (aged 16 years or older) to The Games to help run the day.
To see the book lists, get more information about the games, and to register (starting in mid-October), go to the Reading Games Website.

Health/Physical Examination & Immunization Record due October 15th
As required by law, all new students, as well as students entering grades K, 2, and 6, must receive health examinations and immunizations and submit completed health forms by October 15th. To learn more check out the Health Services page on the District 58 website.
Thank you to many of the families who have already completed and submitted these forms. In accordance with Illinois law, failure to comply with these requirements by Oct 15 of the current school year, or 30 days following registration for first-time registrants, will result in the student's exclusion from school until such requirements have been met. All sections of the child examination form must be completed including the health history, which must be filled out by the parent.
District 58 communicates frequently regarding these requirements as it is our hope to avoid school exclusion for all of our students. If you are in need of additional assistance, our school nurse, Olivia Kuster at okuster@dg58.org or 630-719-5850, would be happy to assist you in answering questions or connecting you with resources to complete this requirement.
Health Services Update
As the year begins, we’ve noticed an increase in students visiting our health offices for insect bites, particularly on the neck, face, and arms. These bites are often red and itchy, and while we can provide Calamine lotion or an ice pack to ease discomfort, other over-the-counter treatments like Benadryl cream or Hydrocortisone require a completed Medication Authorization Form.
Please ensure that these medications are not sent to school with your child unless proper authorization is in place. If you have any questions or need assistance, don’t hesitate to contact your school’s health office.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe and healthy.
For those who want to know more about cicada mites , here's a bit more background. Thanks, everyone!
Attendance Reporting Procedures
If your student will be absent, please use this Attendance form to report the absence or contact the main office at 630-719-5850. You can also leave a voice message at anytime.
