Woodland Middle School
Digital Learning Beyond the Classroom
Week of January 3, 2022
The Woodland Middle School staff is looking forward to a powerful school year filled with exciting new experiences that will help our scholars exhibit “Woodland Pride”. Collectively, we stand on the foundational principles of teaching our scholars to Believe, Succeed, and Achieve. I am honored to lead this work with our scholars, parents, and staff at Woodland Middle School. I am extremely excited about our future and I acknowledge that there would not be a “WE ARE WOODLAND” without you. I sincerely hope that you will reach out to us if you have questions, need guidance, or require resources. Thank you for your continued support and I hope our families will remain safe and healthy during this time.
In the spirit of #weareWoodland,
Dr. Brown, Proud Principal

This year, due to COVID-19, we are taking additional precautions to keep students and staff safe. We are implementing additional clinic guidance and protocols to manage the care of students who present with flu-like illnesses and COVID-19 symptoms which are very similar. Students who present with these symptoms, who are ill, have a fever of 100.4°F or greater and/or may have a contagious illness (potential or actual) MUST NOT be sent to school and will not be permitted to remain in school. In order to return to school, a student should be well (asymptomatic) and free of fever for more than 24 hours and not require medications to reduce fever. In some cases, students will be asked to obtain clearance from a healthcare provider before returning to school and a note must be provided (i.e. contagious illnesses, respiratory illnesses, chronic diarrhea or recurrent fever). When a student becomes ill at school, has a fever, a potential contagious/communicable illness, a serious health problemorisimpaired while at school, the parent/legal guardian will be notified to pick up their child immediately. The parent/legal guardian MUST ARRANGE for the student to be taken home. Again, a note from a healthcare provider may be requested by the school before your child can return toschool. We are also implementing isolation areas and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in our clinics for students who exhibits signs and symptoms of COVID-19.

For learning and instruction, Woodland will be utilizing Microsoft TEAMS as our main platform. We realize that there may be a significant learning curve for some of our students that are not familiar with Microsoft TEAMS. Please know that we will be spending a significant amount of time teaching our students the components of TEAMS. We also recognize that you will be supporting your student with their virtual instruction and some of you may not be familiar with TEAMS. FCS has created resource guides and videos on TEAMS, its components, and how to use it. The link below will take you to this page.
