Thank you to all the families who participated in the Gourmet Treats fundraiser and turned in orders for the Kid's Combo for the Polar Express. We are getting so excited for December 17th!

SIXTH GRADE

I want to thank the sixth-grade families for their help and support when their children returned from camp. This is the first year every parent followed the routine, which resulted in 100% of our sixth-graders getting signed out before leaving campus. We also had a ton of parents helping unload the luggage bus. Teamwork makes the Dream Work!!! THANK YOU! 😀

2024 HONOR ROLL

We’re proud to be named a 2024 Educational Results Partnership Honor Roll school, which recognizes high-performing, achievement gap-closing schools across the nation. The Educational Results Partnership Honor Roll, sponsored by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence, is the only school award given in collaboration with state and local business leaders. The Honor Roll is a valuable resource for all schools to identify successful peers and learn about best practices that are improving student achievement. HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE

The Eagle Canyon Holiday Boutique is open this week. Your teachers will send out the day and time your children will go shopping. The vendors will also be open on Wednesday after school for parents to shop. You have to stop by to see the unique gifts our vendors have to offer.

BAND & CHOIR CONCERT

Next Monday, December 16th at 5:30 p.m. in the MPR, our Eagle Canyon band students and Mrs. Gire's Choir students are hosting their holiday concert. We would love to welcome you to this festive event.

Yearbooks are on sale now. Be sure to buy them before prices increase in January.

ATTENDANCE CHALLENGE

The Biswas family won the first month of the Attendance Challenge. Thank you to the 343 families who qualified for the December Preferred Parking drawing. We are tracking December attendance to determine who will be in the January Preferred Parking drawing.

You may remember the Dog Haus Battle of the Schools if you were an Eagle Canyon family during the 2019-20 school year. Eagle Canyon won and had a hot dog named after our school for a month.

Yogurtland is currently hosting a Battle of the Schools. If you are able, we would love your support in showing the community how Eagle Canyon rallies together and loves to compete. I see Yogurtland in my future! 😋

When you visit Yogurtland, be sure to ask for a sticker so you can support Eagle Canyon in the Battle of the Schools.

Eagle Canyon's student attendance will be a focus this year. Attendance in school leads to better performance for children when they are adults.

Please make illness the only reason for an absence. When your child misses school, they miss out on necessary instruction, and it takes a while for them to get caught up. Parents of students at risk of Chronic Absenteeism will have to meet with Mrs. Bearden or Mr. Choi to sign an agreement to improve overall attendance.

We did not meet the 96.5% goal once last week, averaging 95.69%, an increase from the week before break. Our average for the last two weeks of school is below the district goal. 😯 In the Ayala Feeder, we remain in third place out of five elementary schools. Let's continue to make attendance a priority. If your child was absent, take advantage of the Saturday School on December 14 to remove one absence.

Each week, the stars of the school with impeccable attendance and zero fashionably late entrances will bask in the glory of donut holes courtesy of the Eagle Canyon PTA! Brace yourselves, as two mystery days each week will be the golden ticket for this sugary delight.

When I cannot be out on Eagle Canyon Drive due to being off campus or in a meeting, please follow these common courtesies:

1. Avoid blocking the Eagle Canyon driveway when Ms. Diana crosses students in the crosswalk. This is a great opportunity to allow cars to exit the parking lot.

2. Avoid blocking the intersection of Winchester Way and Eagle Canyon Drive. Some people need to make a left from Eagle Canyon Drive to get home.

3. Please stay in your car in the loading and unloading zones (cabanas and the yellow zone on Eagle Canyon Drive). The faster you drop off or pick up your child, the faster our traffic moves.

Another way you can support our PTA and celebrate your child's birthday is to purchase a birthday greeting for $25 that will be displayed on your child's birthday and run for one week. If interested, please stop by the office, complete the request, and submit the payment. Please be sure to plan in advance. We need two weeks' notice before the birthday to ensure everything is timed correctly.

The kids get so excited seeing their birthday highlighted on the marquee. Out of safety, we will never publish your child's last name, only the initial.
