A Message From Mrs. Acosta
Hart Families,
We had a great week at Hart and am excited to share some celebrations from this past week. We honored our fabulous Assistant Principal, Mrs. Flemmer, and Librarian, Mrs. Dawson this week during National Assistant Principal and Librarian Week. These two ladies truly embody our Leopard Pride and our school is so lucky to have both of them serving our school community.
One of our sweet 4th graders, Charlotte, received a huge surprise when she was recognized for winning the elementary My Community Credit Union Debit Card Design Contest. Her design will be seen on debit cards throughout our community. We are so thankful her parents were also able to be a part of this special surprise. We are so proud of all the students who submitted entries and for Charlotte to be the winner of the elementary design. Please check out the write-up and pictures captured in the Connect with Katie issue 32 here on page 6.
Earlier in the week we had the privilege of hosting the participants of the 2023-2024 Leadership Lovejoy class. It was truly an honor watching some of our teachers showcase the work done everyday with our students. Ms. Baker not only shared the positive impact conferring with students during reader's workshop has had in her classroom, but also modeled a conference with a student. Ms. Crews shared how she uses her data to goal set with students and modeled a goal setting conference with a student. Ms. Crews also highlighted how the work she has done with our MTSS lead has transformed her math workshop block, allowing for more intentional differentiation and choice in math stations. Ms. Anderson highlighted the hard work our first grade team is doing in reading, writing, and phonics. Ms. Ruggeri provided an overview of the work our counseling/guidance program with students and its impact school wide. Ms. Hebert showcased the work of our specials team and shared the importance of building a strong specials program for our students.
I did want to provide you an update on morning traffic. It has been brought to our attention there is a lot of construction and detours near the campus, close to the bridge. With this, traffic not related to Hart parents dropping off, are being rerouted down Estelle. This has caused some backup in traffic flow and we wanted to make you aware so you can plan ahead.
Next week we have a lot happening; Solar Eclipse Viewing on Monday, STAAR testing on Tuesday and Wednesday, and finishing the week strong with Reading with the Leopards. Thank you for understanding all Lovejoy ISD buildings will be closed on Monday, April 8th from 12:00-2:00 pm, and Hart Elementary will be closed to visitors on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week due to STAAR testing.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Ours will be very quiet in the Acosta household as we are regrouping from last weekend where we had a ton of fun with our niece (7) and nephew (2). My husband and I laughed because we tend to forget the amount of energy and need with the younger kids when we have been spoiled with a 15 and 16 year old, who like to tell us they don't need our help. We loved every minute spending time with our family and watching our own children play like they were little again.
See everyone on Monday!
❤️ Mrs. Acosta

Visiting Hart Elementary
In a continued effort to support our safety and security posture at the front entrance doors at each campus, all visitors are required to show ID prior to entering our facilities. The front office staff member will continue to ask each visitor what their intended business is at the campus, and visitors will present their ID to the camera intercom system prior to entry. Once the visitor ID is verified, the front office staff member will then allow entry. Note: Visitors should keep their ID in hand, as they will have to use it to sign into Raptor upon entry.
Attendance Update
Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).
Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences. This information can be found below:
