Falcon Flyer
Belong. Inspire. Grow.
Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families- You know as part of Ridgeline’s mission we take time to teach and talk about interpersonal relationship skills. When I was getting ready for the work force, as a much younger man, these were referred to as “soft skills”. The technical aspects of your job were “hard skills”. If you are an employer or have been part of a hiring team have you ever used the term “with-it-ness”? While it’s not a formal skill, it is something that you know and recognize when you see it. Some people are just more poised, personable, articulate, friendly, understand the nuance of their role, etc… I bring this up with parents because I talk with our kids and ask our teachers to work with our kids on these soft skills. Effective communication with others is a very important skill in all work places. To become an effective communicator you have to practice and you have to have good examples. Sometimes we have to push ourselves out of our comfort zone to GROW our soft skills.
Another way we help make this happen in high school is through Activities and Athletics. That’s why I encourage parents to read the newsletter so that you are aware of opportunities that are available for your student that they might not tell you about. When students risk getting “on stage” in front of others they grow enormously as people. A play, marching band, on the court, in the stands, in front of your class, speaking up in a small group—the “stage” is quite limitless. Even attending dances like our upcoming Sadie Hawkins HoeDown provide important social contexts for our young people to hone their “skills”. Good for our kids who look for opportunities to grow!
It was great to see and celebrate our Special Olympics bowlers and their success last weekend. Thank you to the staff and students who have been a part of the Unified Bowling Team this season!
I’m also extremely proud of the cast and crew from “You Can’t Take It With You”, who closed out their production this weekend- way to go! Another huge thank you to our staff who supported the production, as well as the many hours you parents donated to help behind the scenes—couldn’t have done it without that support!
There are some charitable opportunities highlighted in today’s Flyer if you’re looking for ways to support the greater community.
Make it a Happy Thanksgiving everyone! –Mr. Hardt

Admitted!
It’s been a short week ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, but our list of colleges and universities to which Ridgeline seniors have been admitted continues to grow! Thanks to all who’ve encouraged your students to access the Google form (Admitted!) and let us know where they’ve been admitted! Keep ‘em coming!
High School Visits Winding Down
As the high school visiting season for colleges and universities begins to wind down and give way to the busy college application season, Ridgeline is seeing what will likely be the last of its visits for the fall season. Over the past two weeks, our students have had the opportunity to learn more about Boise State University, Spokane Community College, and The US Military Academy at West Point!
Special Olympics- Unified Bowling
The Unified Bowling team competed in the state Special Olympics competition this last weekend.
Ella Bode and Katelynn Fay earned a Silver medal meaning they are the second best in the entire state within their league. Andrew Simpson earned GOLD!! He is the best in the entire state within his league! Congrats to these amazing bowlers. Not only is this the first year Ridgeline has competed, but we are also the best! Go Falcons!
Special Thanksgiving Feast
Classrooms D111, D106, and D102 collaborated to create a special lunch for the students and staff. Some of our awesome dishes included macaroni and cheese, ham, turkey, potatoes, green bean casserole, dressing, carrot soufflé, brownies, gingerbread cookies, and cherry dump cake. Students and staff enjoyed the fellowship and the yummy food.
Thank you to everyone involved with "You can't Take it With You"
