Chalk the Walk & Teacher Luncheon
How much does the RBES PTA appreciate our staff?
On Sunday, several RBES families came together to “chalk the walk” in front of the school. Messages were written in colorful chalk celebrating all staff at Running Brook. Visit our Facebook page for photos. Sunday’s event was followed by a PTA sponsored lunch served to every staff member on Monday. The meals were prepared with love by Curry and Kabob, a local restaurant located in the Wilde Lake Village Center.
We received many positive comments from the staff which brightened our day: “Thank you so much for lunch today! It was very good! A real treat is your care and thoughts for us.” “It was so nice not have to bring lunch from home, but most of all, it was AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!”
Thank you to everyone in the community who made this event possible. We put a call out to the community and the donations came flooding in to allow us to treat the RBES staff.
Next time you’re in the mood for Indian food, check out Curry and Kabob. Let them know the Running Brook PTA sent you!
The Yearbook Committee Needs YOUR Help!
Yearbook Volunteers Needed!
The PTA is offering support to Ms. Segal as she leads the Running Brook yearbook effort. We are looking for a couple of parents to assist her in the coming months. Tasks include help with positioning and entering photos into the Yearbook template and help with spelling/grammar checks and the overall uniformity of the book.

Breaking Stereotypes with Michelle Cann
The PTA thanks CultureNet for providing an amazing virtual experience to our students!
Breaking Stereotypes introduced our students to concert pianist, Michelle Cann.
Michelle began playing the piano at age 7 and has won top prize at national and international piano competitions. She has performed with various orchestras including the Florida Orchestra, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Institute of Music Symphony Orchestra, the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and the Pennsylvania Philharmonic.
In addition to her performing career, Michelle is also a music educator. Michelle received her Bachelor and Master degrees in piano performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and received an Artist Diploma from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Currently, Michelle holds the inaugural Eleanor Sokoloff Chair in piano studies at Curtis becoming only the 2nd woman and the first African-American to teach in the Curtis Institute's prestigious piano department.
The PTA also wants to thank Jean Lewis and the Iota Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for providing grant funding for this event.

The President's Corner
Spring has Sprung!
The weather is finally warming up, flowers are in bloom and kids can be heard having fun at recess with the transition to hybrid learning in full swing.
We are looking forward to see how everything progresses with the COVID factor but I wanted to take a moment and acknowledge the amazing job our families have done and are still doing in what have been a very unique school year.
Your continued support of initiatives for the students has been unmatched.
I hope through the programming we have led to date this school year the RBES PTA has found a way to reach out and help your student still feel connected to their teachers, classmates and school. We want to continue being that bridge and membership dues help us do that.
Thank you for continuing to partner with us and caring so abundantly about our students.
