FROM THE PRINCIPALS
During the month of February, we take time to honor and celebrate Black History Month, recognizing the incredible contributions of those who have led the way and paved the path before us. Their courage, perseverance, and innovation continue to inspire and shape the world we live in today. At CMIT-South Middle School, we encourage our students to learn, reflect, and engage in meaningful discussions that highlight the achievements and impact of Black leaders throughout history. Throughout the month, CMIT-South Middle School students will engage in activities and events to celebrate Black History Month, including classroom discussions, projects, and school-wide initiatives that highlight the achievements of Black leaders, inventors, scientists, artists, and changemakers. We encourage families to join in the celebration by discussing the significance of Black history at home and exploring ways to learn together. As we progress further into the second half of the school year, it is important for students to continue adhering to all school policies and procedures. Code of Conduct Assemblies were held recently to review expectations with students, reinforcing the importance of a Responsible, Organized, Accountable, and Respectful, and safe learning environment. We ask families to take a moment to review the Parent/Student Handbook as a refresher to ensure alignment and understanding of school policies. Your support in reinforcing these expectations at home is greatly appreciated! This time of year, we see an increase in students falling ill due to colds, the flu, and other seasonal illnesses. To help keep our school community healthy, please follow these precautions: 🚨 When Should Your Child Stay Home? MAP Testing – February 25 & 27 Students will be taking the Winter MAP Test on Tuesday, February 25, and Thursday, February 27. This assessment helps us measure student growth and identify areas of academic progress. Please ensure your child arrives on time, well-rested, and ready to do their best! ✅ Test-Taking Preparation Tips: We appreciate your partnership in keeping our students safe, healthy, and academically successful. Wishing everyone a fantastic and productive week ahead! Important Dates: February 25th: MAP-Math February 27th: MAP-RELA: February 28th: First Day of Ramadan (starts sunset of 2/27) February 28th: Teacher Planning Half-Day – 3-Hr. ✔️ Wash hands frequently with soap and water.
✔️ Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow.
✔️ Stay hydrated and eat nutritious meals.
✔️ Get plenty of rest to support a strong immune system.
If your student has a fever (100.4°F or higher), vomiting, diarrhea, persistent coughing, or any flu-like symptoms, they should remain home until they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours without medication. Keeping sick students home helps prevent the spread of illness and ensures a healthier environment for all.
📌 Get a good night’s sleep before testing days.
📌 Eat a healthy breakfast to stay focused and energized.
📌 Bring a fully charged Chromebook for testing.
📌 Stay calm and take your time—read each question carefully.
