COMMUNITY UPDATE
Hello North Rockland Families,
I’m starting this week with a big “thank you” to our Board of Education for its unanimous approval on Tuesday of a resolution allowing our district to enter an agreement with the New York State Energy Research and Development Agency (NYSERDA). This agreement paves the way for NRCSD to receive $10 million in state grant funding for new, energy efficient heating and air conditioning systems at both Stony Point and West Haverstraw elementary schools - at NO additional cost to local taxpayers. This is a huge win for our school community made possible through the hard work of Assistant Superintendent for Business Kleo Girandola and her team. Our partners at NYSERDA will share all the important details of this heating and cooling funding award in the coming weeks.
On Monday, we held our first-ever “Best Buddies Got Talent” show. The excitement was palpable and the talents displayed by our students on the main stage were inspiring. We’re so proud of everyone who participated and we hope “Best Buddies” starts a new tradition at North Rockland for years to come.
Before the start of Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting, the district recognized the incredible musical accomplishments of our students. In the NRHS Library, we celebrated our elementary, middle and high school students who’ve earned Senior All-County, Junior All-County, Intermediate All-County, Area All-State, All-State Wind Ensemble and All-Eastern Treble Chorus honors. These students have represented North Rockland with pride across New York State this academic year and we’re proud of their dedication and musical talents.
This weekend, Fieldstone Middle School will bring the magic of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory to life with its much-anticipated musical. Performances will be on Friday, April 4 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 5 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
As we approach the final week of classes before Spring Recess, I encourage everyone to take this time to rest and recharge. As a reminder, Spring Recess is Monday, April 14 through Monday, April 21. After the break, the District will send an official update regarding the three unused emergency/snow days. It looks like we’ve avoided major snowfall this year. These days will be designated as "giveback" days on May 22, 23 and 27.

North Rockland Purple Up!
In the North Rockland School District, we recognize the strength and resilience of military children. To honor them and show our support, we invite all staff and students to wear purple on Wednesday, April 30, for NRCSD’s official PURPLE UP Day. This day is dedicated to raising awareness and supporting all branches of the military, including Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard and Veterans. We "go purple" as it symbolizes symbolizes unity, combining the colors of each military branch - blue for the Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard, green for the Army and red for the Marines. The 2025 shirts with new military graphics are available (cash only) through the school building's main offices. All proceeds raised go toward Hudson Valley Honor Flight's Mission 36 for Veterans taking place May 31.
To our community members who want to join our mission, please tag us in your photos and use #NRPurpleUp2025!
