Dear Unicorn Families,
Welcome to the 2nd semester.! We are thrilled to embark on another month of learning, growth, and community. In this newsletter, you’ll find important updates and celebrations of student achievements. We also highlight the extracurricular activities available for students, offering numerous opportunities to explore interests and develop new skills.

MARTIN LUTHER KING
Martin Luther King Jr. (born Michael King Jr.; January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was an American Baptist minister, activist, and political philosopher who was one of the most prominent leaders in the civil rights movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968. King advanced civil rights for people of color in the United States through the use of nonviolent resistance and nonviolent civil disobedience against Jim Crow laws and other forms of legalized discrimination.

WHAT IS NEW????
In January, the PE classes participated in learning about and playing para wheelchair basketball. Also, in December the Esports team at Utterback was invited to compete in an EA Sports NCAA football tournament. It was sponsored by Death Row Games, a company founded by Snoop Dogg and his son. Julian G. was a winner and received an Xbox console, monitor and a cash prize.
Exciting Extracurricular Activities
Here are some highlights:
- Sports Teams: Cheerleading, boys' and girls' soccer
- Clubs and Organizations: esports, 21st century after school tutoring.
Participation in these activities is a great way for students to explore new interests and develop valuable skills. We encourage everyone to get involved!
