-GCCE Presidential Academy for Teachers
Congratulations to Ms. Tyeshia Colley, Am. Gov't. & Intro to Pub. Administration and US Intelligence teacher, who has been selected as a member of the Georgia Center for Civic Engagement (GCCE) Presidential Academy for Teachers. This membership includes her selection of four (4) Salem students who will participate in the Youth Assembly in Atlanta, GA, and the 2025 Summer History Tour in Philadelphia, PA, and Washington, DC.
We are looking forward to hearing what new experiences this opportunity has given them!
-SHS Homecoming/Spirit Week 2024
The Salem High School Student Government Association presents to you Homecoming Spirit Week 2024. The theme this year is "Remember the Time: Nostalgia". Spirit Week is the week of September 16-21. Check out the flyer above for more details of the daily themes and get ready to show your school spirit.
The Homecoming game will be on Friday, September 20th at 7:30 PM and the finale of the week is the 2024 Homecoming Dance, Saturday, September 21st at 6:00 PM. The dance will at Salem High School in the commons. Tickets are on sale through the Salem OSP.
-Title I Annual Meeting

-Suicide Prevention Month
Suicide is the 2nd Leading cause of death among people aged 10-34 in the U.S. This week our SHS Counselors visited various classrooms delivered a PowerPoint presentation that discussed the warning signs, how to be a supportive friend and several outlets that students can reach out to for help.
If you are struggling with challenges that are difficult to handle alone, or concerned about a friend who may need crisis support, please know there are people who can help:

-Book Your Senior Portraits
Class of 2025 book your senior photo sessions with Cady before it is too late.
Salem will host one Full Road Shoot on Thursday, October 10th. You must still schedule the appointment through the CADY website.
If you plan to be in your final high school yearbook, you must be photographed by CADY. The deadline to have photos taken for the yearbook is December 20th. Book now at cady.com/schedule.

Mark your calendars for two opportunities to support your SemiNOLES through our partnership with Chik-Fil-A:
Chick-fil-A Chicken Biscuit Sale: Start your day off right with a delicious Chick-fil-A chicken biscuit on September 11th.
Chick-fil-A Spirit Night: Show your school spirit and support our school by joining us at Chick-fil-A on September 24th for Spirit Night! A portion of the proceeds will benefit our school.

Our AVID students are preparing for two exciting college visits this month! On September 24th, students will tour Clark Atlanta University, gaining valuable insight into college life at a prestigious HBCU.
On September 26th, we will visit Georgia Tech, where students will explore one of the nation's leading institutions in technology and innovation. These field trips are part of our commitment to exposing students to diverse college environments and helping them develop a clear vision for their future. Stay tuned for updates on these exciting adventures!

-Flag Football Tryouts
All girls interested in playing flag football this year there will be tryouts on September 9th & 10th.
All athletes must have a current physical on Rank One and all forms need to be filled out before you can participate in try-outs. Please be sure to bring a mouthpiece and football cleats to tryouts.
