Thoughts from Mrs. Ambrosio
Jesus said to them again, As the Father has sent me, so I send you. And when he had said this he breathed on them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
John 20:21-22
Dear Parents,
Tonight our sixth grade students will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. They have spent time preparing for their Confirmation, and they know that the Holy Spirit will be with them and will work through them. When I was confirmed, I too felt prepared. I had studied the saint whose name I chose, I attended Sunday Mass and Catechism classes. I took my faith seriously, and I was ready to grow in faith. What I did not realize at the time was just how the Holy Spirit would work through me in my life at different times and in different ways. As an adult I have come to realize what a true gift faith actually is and that having a relationship with God, being open to the Holy Spirit, and truly praying and reflecting on what God wants from me is central to who I am. My hope and prayer for our Confirmation candidates is just that. I pray that they will be open to the workings of the Holy Spirit in their lives. That they will take time to listen to what God wants from them and that the noise that surrounds them will not drown out the work that the Holy Spirit wants to do through them. Please join me in praying for our Confirmation candidates. Surely our world needs these young people to do His work to make this world a better place.
God Bless,
Rachel

Maturation Program for Fifth Grade:
The fifth-grade maturation program, including video presentations, will take place on Friday, April 11, 2025. Information regarding the video content was disseminated via email in February. Parents who do not wish for their child to participate are requested to inform the nursing office at nurse@smsridgefield.org by April 1, 2025.
Postural Examinations
The nursing office will conduct postural examinations for 5th and 7th-grade female students, and 6th and 8th-grade male students, on May 12th and 13th. A notification form with further details will be emailed to parents. If a student has undergone a physical examination within the current academic year, including a scoliosis screening by their pediatrician, documentation may be submitted to the nursing office in lieu of the school examination.
Sixth Grade Requirement: Physical Examinations and Immunizations
A reminder to parents of 6th-grade students: Connecticut state law mandates a physical examination prior to entry into 7th grade. Please verify that your child has received the Meningococcal and Tdap vaccinations as part of this examination, if applicable. These immunizations are a prerequisite for school enrollment in the 2025/2026 academic year.
