"Auburn Pride Starts Inside"
December 6,2024
Principal's Corner
Dear Auburn Families,
As we welcome the month of December, I am reminded of the beauty and richness of the diverse celebrations, traditions, and cultures that make our school community so vibrant. Whether you are observing Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, or other meaningful traditions, or simply enjoying the season with family and friends, this time of year offers opportunities for connection, reflection, and gratitude.
At our school, we are committed to creating a space where every child feels a strong sense of belonging and every family feels valued. Our first goal of increasing access, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice remains central to all we do. As we move through this season, we continue to encourage our students to celebrate differences, practice kindness, and grow their understanding of the world around them.
Additionally, as part of our goal to foster a culture of community, we are exploring new ways to strengthen communication and deepen relationships between school, home, and the broader community. If you have ideas or traditions you'd like to share with us, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Together, we can continue building a school environment that feels welcoming and inclusive for all.
Thank you for your partnership, your trust, and the support you provide every day. It truly takes a village to nurture the growth and success of our students, and we are so grateful for each of you.
Wishing you and your family peace, joy, and meaningful moments this season.
Warm regards,
Principal Byas
The 12 Days Of Good Attendance
Dear Parents and Students,
We are excited to announce the 12 Days of Good Attendance, designed to encourage students to maintain consistent attendance as we approach the holiday break. This initiative will run from December 5, 2024 through December 20, 2024, and will include daily prize drawings.
Each day, one winner will be selected from each grade level to receive a small prize. On December 20, 2024, a special drawing will be held for students who have achieved perfect attendance throughout the 12-day period. The lucky winners will enjoy a special treat: Cookies with Ms. Courts.
All students who are present at school during this time are eligible for the daily drawings, regardless of grade level. We encourage everyone to participate by being present and on time each day!
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to celebrating good attendance with our students as we head into the holiday season!
Warm regards,
Ms. Courts

Teacher of the Year Nominations
Greetings Auburn Eagle Parents/Caretakers,
The Oakland County Outstanding Teacher of the Year Awards are presented annually to honor and reward teachers in Oakland County who have achieved, through their effort and example, the highest standards of excellence in their profession. Oakland Schools has created these awards out of a conviction that a quality public education system is essential to the health and vitality of our community. We believe that encouraging excellence in education is the shared responsibility of all who reap its benefits.
If you would like to nominate an Auburn Elementary teacher for consideration for this award, please write a statement describing why you feel that teacher is deserving of the nomination. You can include specific examples and stories of how the teacher has gone above and beyond to support your child. Please limit your statement to 600 words and submit all nominations to the main office with attention to Principal Byas by Friday, January 10, 2025.
Thank you for helping us to recognize the outstanding teachers that we have at Auburn.

In cloudy or snowy weather, students should wear: Gloves, Hats, Snow pants, Boots
Playground Snow Policy
Clothing Reminders:
