CPA Tiger Talk
October 17-21, 2022
No School Thursday 10/20 or Friday 10/21
Words of Wisdom
"Let your boat of life be light, packed only with what you need – a homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends worth the name, someone to love and to love you, a cat, a dog, enough to eat and enough to wear. . ."
~Jerome K. Jerome
We can accumulate so much “stuff,” that it weighs us down like a load of bricks on a pack mule. We spend more time buying, cleaning, and maintaining our stuff than we do enjoying the simple pleasures like time with family and friends, the roof over our heads, and a hot meal to appreciate.
It’s surprising how lightening the load of our “stuff” can actually lighten our hearts as well.

Picture Day is Tuesday November 1!
Picture day is a free dress day. Please review the free dress day policy (below) as a family and ensure students are dressed accordingly.
On free dress days, students must still wear clothing that is representative of the philosophy of Community of Peace Academy. Clothing, such as shirts or pants that feature pictures, phrases, or statements, must represent or promote peace and a non-violent/healthy lifestyle. All items of clothing must fit comfortably and be school appropriate.
1. Spaghetti straps, off the shoulder tops, halter or strapless tops are not allowed.
2. Coats, jackets, caps, hats, and outerwear must be kept in lockers.
3. Skirts and/or shorts must be mid-thigh or longer.
4. Pants/shorts with holes are not allowed.
5. Clothing items that are transparent or sheer must have clothing worn under that meets the above criteria.
If it is ever a question as to whether or not you may be out of uniform or whether or not your choice of dress is appropriate, please contact your Principal.

School Pay
Are you looking for an easier way to make payments at school? Create a SchoolPay account!
SchoolPay accounts make it easier to process any payments you need to make to the school, athletics department, or cafeteria. Families can complete the application for free and reduced price lunch through School Pay, and families who receive free or reduced price lunch can also print their determination letter, which can be used to receive discounts at museums, MTC, and more!

Free financial aid events are available to Minnesota students and families via Zoom. The series, running on Tuesday evenings, September 27 through October 25, is intended for current high school students and will cover general information about the college application and financial aid process, details on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Minnesota Dream Act for undocumented students, and other ways to pay for college.
All sessions will have interpretation in Spanish, Somali, and Hmong. Attendees can ask questions in the chat and have them answered during the event by financial aid experts. Students who attend any of the sessions will be entered into a drawing to win a $500 scholarship (one entry per session attended).
