Last week was impacted by poor air quality due to the numerous fires in the area. Our students and staff did a fantastic job staying indoors following the inclement weather schedule. I appreciated everyone's cooperation under the circumstances, especially when we had to transition the 9/11 Rally to an indoor event.

THINKNLOCAL FUNDRAISER

The annual Thinknlocal Fundraiser is underway. Have you scanned a participating vendor's receipt?

This fundraiser supports Eagle Canyon and encourages to shop and dine locally. Let's support our community's local establishments. It is very easy to participate. Check out the image below to see which companies are supporting our fundraiser. You can scan the receipt when you shop or dine at one of the participating companies. Eagle Canyon will earn a percentage of the proceeds for every dollar spent. If you are unsure how to scan your receipt, PTA will collect and scan the receipts for you. There will be a box in the office for receipts.

PARENT CONFERENCES 9/23 - 9/27

Parent Conferences are right around the corner. If you haven't scheduled your child's conference yet, please reach out to their teacher. You need to work closely with the teacher to ensure your child makes progress toward mastering the grade-level standards.

👉For your planning purposes, please remember that these days are all MINIMUM DAYS so teachers have the time to meet with you.

Eagle Canyon's student attendance will be a focus this year. Attendance in school leads to better performance for children when they are adults.

Please make illness the only reason for an absence. When your child misses school, they miss out on necessary instruction, and it takes a while for them to get caught up. Parents of students at risk of Chronic Absenteeism will have to meet with Mrs. Bearden or Mrs. Jenkins to sign an agreement to improve overall attendance.

We met the 96.5% goal three of the five days last week, averaging 96.14% which is the first week we are below the average goal. Let's continue to make attendance a priority.

Traffic has improved tremendously over the last few weeks. 😁

If you have someone pick your child up from school, will you remind them to avoid stopping in a crosswalk? We have had several incidents where cars stop in the crosswalk and Diana, our crossing guard, cannot cross students so they can get to school on time.

Another way you can support our PTA and celebrate your child's birthday is to purchase a birthday greeting for $25 that will be displayed on your child's birthday and run for one week. If interested, please stop by the office, complete the request, and submit the payment. Please be sure to plan in advance. We need two weeks' notice before the birthday to ensure everything is timed correctly.

The kids get so excited seeing their birthday highlighted on the marquee. Out of safety, we will never publish your child's last name, only the initial.
