2024 Walk-a-Thon
April 12th @ 1:00 p.m.
Please remember to continue collecting pledges from family and friends for this year's Walk-a-Thon. Ms. Kara is in need of volunteers to help make this event a success. Volunteer duties may include handing out water and snacks, monitoring the tracks, stamping lap cards, organizing lap cards/envelopes, and clean up. Please email Ms. Kara (kjohnson1@hgcsabq.com) or call the office if you can volunteer.
All money earned will go towards a family’s fundraising obligation. Any additional funds will go towards our office supplies fundraiser.
Family Fundraising obligation balance must be paid by May 1, 2024.
April is the Month of the Military Child. It was designated in the mid-1980s and celebrates children of all U.S. military branches. Purple is the designated color to honor military children because all branches of the military are represented-Air Force blue, Space Force dark blue, Army green, Marine red, and Coast Guard blue; said to combine for the mutual benefit of all into the color purple. The dandelion is the official flower of the military child. Dandelions can take root and flourish practically anywhere the wind takes them. Military children are like the dandelion- they are uprooted and planted all across the world. Military children move on average every 2-3 years.
Claire Power represented Holy Ghost at the Central NM STEM Research Challenge during spring break.
First Holy Communion
Please pray for our students who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of the First Eucharist.
Distinguished Disciples 2024
Students and volunteers alike are nominated by their school communities as examples of Christ-like character. The Archdiocese of Santa Fe recognizes individuals who emanate genuinely distinguished disciple-hood. Awardees regularly reach out to those who are less fortunate, volunteer for projects to help the school and larger community, are compassionate and caring to all, and live out Catholic faith on a daily basis. We are proud to honor our two Holy Ghost Distinguished Disciples.
Reminder of our Health Policy
Children who come to school sick are not productive learners and are often miserable all day. More importantly, they can spread the illness to their classmates and teachers. Remember, frequent hand washing is one of the best ways to slow the spread of germs.
Please do not bring your child to school if they have symptoms such as a temperature over 100.4°F, a recent onset of a cough, shortness of breath, headache, body aches, chills, diarrhea, vomiting, and recent onset or persistent loss of taste or smell.
Students with the following symptoms should remain home:
A temperature of 100.4 or higher within the past 24 hours
Vomiting the night before or the morning of the school day
Diarrhea, stomach pain/cramping.
Frequent persistent cough throughout the day or night.
Students may return if:
Your child is fever free for a continuous 24 hours without medication such as Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen
They are diagnosed with a contagious illness and have not received medication for at least 24 hours, or until the doctor has informed you that the child is no longer contagious (doctor signed notice required)
They have been without diarrhea or vomiting for at least 24 hours
GotSneakers Library Fundraiser
Holy Ghost has partnered with GotSneakers to help eliminate footwear waste. We will be collecting reusable ATHLETIC sneakers from April - September 2024. Money raised from GotSneakers will be used to cover the cost for the virtual author visits that Mrs. Johnston is hoping to schedule for the 24-25 school year!
