Principal's Message
Welcome Back Cavalier Families!
As we embark on a new school year, I am filled with hope and optimism for the journey ahead. Over the summer, our dedicated administration, teachers, and students have worked together to prepare for a successful year.
My commitment remains steadfast in creating an environment that is safe, welcoming, and conducive to academic achievement and enjoyable experiences for students. We are excited for the year ahead at Calvert High!
Let’s make this year one of growth, joy, and remarkable accomplishments. Welcome back!
- The first day of school for all students is Tuesday, August 27th. Student schedules are expected to be available in HAC on or around Tuesday, August 20st.

Parents, guardians and community members,
You are invited to join us on the first day of school to greet our students outside the building as they arrive for the first day of school. Your presence will help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere as our students return, contributing to setting a positive tone for the year ahead.
This gesture not only shows our students that they are supported by a caring community, but it also fosters a sense of belonging and excitement. By coming together, we can make the first day of school a memorable and uplifting experience for everyone.

New Student Orientation
Cafeteria
We would like to share information about what to expect in our cafeterias for school year 2024-2025.
The Free and Reduced Meal Program continues to be available, however, to all families who qualify. A new application must be submitted each school year. To see if your household qualifies, please complete, and submit one meal benefit application per household. Applications will be sent home with students in the beginning of the school year folders but may also be completed online at https://LinqConnect.com.
Applications are available in many languages on the LinqConnect site but are also available on the USDA’s website at http://www.fns.usda.gov/school-meals/translated-applications.
Breakfast and Lunch meals are offered daily.
School Meal Prices for SY 2024.2025:
Breakfast: $1.65; Secondary Lunch $3.00; Student Milk $0.60.

Citizen Advisory Committee Members
The Calvert County Board of Education is accepting applications for the Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) from Calvert High School and Patuxent High School districts.
The CAC provides a means for taking an active role in public education. The committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Education. It conducts studies in areas of concern, provides community insight into pending policies and discusses a variety of issues affecting school system operations. The work of the committee is done in accordance with Policy #1210 and the corresponding procedures.
The committee meets at 6:00 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month during the school year.
Applicants must be residents of Calvert County and may not be full- or part-time employees of the school system.

Testing
PSAT, AP and SAT ACCOMMODATION REQUESTS
Submit requests for College Board accommodations (AP, SAT) to Dona Hook, Assistant Principal, at hookd@calvertnet.k12.md.us. Completed request forms for AP exams are due by December 19, 2024.
PSAT 2024
On October 16th, 2024 the PSAT will be administered digitally at CHS. All 10th grade students will take the exam with the cost being covered by Calvert County Public Schools. The exam will be available to 9th, 11th and 12th grade students for an $18 fee. The deadline to register to take the PSAT for 9th, 11th, and 12th grade students is September 6th, 2024.

Athletic Game Information
- Admission cost for regular season athletic events is $6.
- Online tickets for CHS games can be purchased at: Calvert High School Tickets by GoFan. This link includes access to the Student and Parent Pass for the Fall season. This pass can only be used for HOME games.
- There will no admittance after the 3rd quarter.
- Re-entry is not permitted (you may not pay to re-enter)
- Backpacks and bags are not permitted.
- No profanity
- No throwing items in the stands or on the field/court
- Prohibited items include weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, electronic cigarettes, outside food and drinks, laser pointers, non-service animals, sports equipment, and other items deemed inappropriate by the school administration.
- Please help us maintain our campus pride by throwing your trash away.
Transportation
Student Parking Permits
Parking permits for 2024-2025 are on sale for Seniors and Juniors. Please review the Student Parking Rules and Regulations/Application document included below. Students must return the signed and completed parking application to the main office and include payment. Please bring a copy of the vehicle registration and a valid driver’s license for the student named on the application. The parking fee for this year is $60. Office hours are from 7:30 am – 2:30.
Monday 8/19/24 parking pass hours are 1:30-3:30.
Students have until Friday, September 6th to purchase their parking permit.
Students are to park in only their numbered parking spot
Parking permits will continue to be sold during the school year until the parking lot is full.
CHS Transportation Remiders
Reminders
- Afternoon student pick-up: please back into a parking space to wait for your student. This helps to alleviate a traffic back-up.
- Please drive at a safe speed when dropping-off/picking-up students.
CHS Back Parking Lot
- The CHS back parking lot is for student drivers only. Drop-off and pick-up for students is in the Kiss and Ride lot located at the front of the school.
- No student can park in the back lot without a school issued parking permit.
Student Drivers
- Parking permits must be visible at all times while parking on school grounds.
- Students who are chronically late to school may have their parking permit suspended.
- Be mindful of your speed and cautious when entering and exiting the parking lot.
- The law requires that you stop at the stop sign at the Dorsey/Dares Beach intersection. Drive safely or you risk having your CHS parking privileges suspended.
Nurse - Health Room
If your student requires medication during school hours, please review the following.
Medication forms for next school year can be found on the Calvert County Public Schools website under Parents / School Health Program / School Health Forms. Medication orders need to be renewed each school year and must be signed and dated by a health care provider after July 1st.

Requirements for Medication at School – a Safeguard for Children
- In order for students to receive medication at school, including over-the-counter (OTC) medication, the School Medication Administration Authorization Form must be completed by the student’s physician and the parent. The completed form will be kept on file in the school.
- Medications that need to be given to a student at school must be brought to school in the original pharmacy / OTC container. It may be necessary to ask your pharmacist to fill an extra bottle or container for use at school.
- All medications that are to be given at school are to be brought to school by the parent or responsible adult. The student will not transport medications to school.
- Medications are to be given to the school nurse.

Technology
Having trouble with a student laptop? If you are having software issues or password issues, requests can be sent directly to the IT HelpDesk at helpdesk@calvertnet.k12.md.us. If a student is having hardware issues, broken screen, laptop will not turn on, etc., see Ms. Mignardi in the library
Home Access Center Reminders (HAC)
Reminders regarding the Home Access Center that will make life easier.
- Students’ log in to HAC using their Office 365 credentials. Remember to use a capital S and their student ID number as their login (do not include the entire email address, just S + the student ID number).
- New parents and/or those who have never logged into HAC are able to self-register with their address and email address that the school has on record.
- Parents who are having trouble accessing HAC and have not been able to successfully reset their own password, can contact Ms. Barber in the Main Office at 443-550-8880 or barbers@calvertnet.k12.md.us. If you are sending an email, be sure to include your student information.
