Welcome Back to School!
Thank you to everyone who joined us last week for our Back to School Orientation!
We are looking forward to a great 2021-22 school year. Schools will reopen today, September 1st, for students. We have spent our time this summer getting classrooms ready for what we hope will be a more traditional school year. Over the last couple of weeks, our teaching staff has been meeting and planning for your child(ren)’s education. It’s been great to be able to plan for in-person learning!
Throughout the summer our custodial staff have been cleaning rooms and returning furniture to our classrooms. Teachers have been busy creating warm learning environments to welcome your child back to school. Recess, passing periods, and lunch will return to pre-pandemic procedures (with spacing) as well. Our staff has also been busy preparing all the learning materials your child will need to be successful.
Hand sanitizing stations are located near classroom entrances and we will continue to remind students of the importance of frequent hand washing. In addition, we have MERV 13 filters and will continue to explore additional ventilation options. We will continue to use the five UV light systems and two SC2 disinfectant sprayers that were purchased last year.
A few things will be different this school year than a traditional year. Visitors to our buildings will also be limited/restricted based on burden level in order to lessen the chance of transmission.
Like last year, we are asking parents to screen their children for symptoms of COVID each morning and to keep them home if they exhibit any of the symptoms. We will begin our covid testing program for symptomatic students and staff in the near future. (Consent is granted/denied through Skyward registration.) We will use email to share important information, covid updates, close contact information, and more, so please be sure to keep us informed if your email or phone number changes.
The Holy Hill Area School District Team is excited to welcome students back to school! The health and safety of our students and staff along with continued academic and personal growth are our top priorities. Please be aware of the policies and procedures related to COVID-19, approved at our August 23rd Board meeting, and linked below. Our team is closely monitoring the presence of COVID-19 and any variants within the community and the District. As discussed at the board meeting, should transmission rates increase or decrease within our schools and/or public health orders change, we may adjust the procedures as needed. Any changes will be communicated with you.
We hope you had a restful summer and we look forward to welcoming your child, in-person, to school in just a couple of hours!
Next Meetings: September 13 and 27

FLES Drop-Off & Pick-Up Routines
FLES ARRIVAL/DROP OFF PROCEDURES:
Parents and families that are transporting their children to school…
Enter the parking lot from Highway 164 entrance for families with last names A-L. The Highway 167/Holy Hill Road entrance is for buses and students with last names M-Z.
All vehicles should follow the arrows as a flow of traffic. To keep our children, staff, and you safe please drive slow through our parking lot.
REMAIN IN VEHICLE: Parents MUST remain in the vehicle at all times. Staff members will help students out of the vehicle if needed.
DOLPHIN ZONE: STUDENTS ON THE RIGHT SIDE: Please have your child/ren ready to exit the vehicle on the right side if you are in the Dolphin zone so they can exit right onto the sidewalk.
FLIPPER ZONE: STUDENT ON THE LEFT SIDE: Please have your child/ren ready to exit the vehicle on the left side if you are in the Flipper zone.
BE PREPARED: While you are waiting in the line, have your child get unbuckled and prepare the backpack.
During drop off time, parents should not park in the parking lot. During the first week of school we will have all parking spots blocked off in order to ensure that all families stay in the drop off line and do not park. All families must utilize the drop off line and all parents/caregivers should remain in the car.
When utilizing the drop off line, please pull as far forward on the sidewalk as possible (do not stop at the main entrance) and keep your car close to the sidewalk.
4K & 5K students will enter the door that allows them to enter the building in the kindergarten wing. All other drop-off students will enter the building main entrance or the Dolphin Kids/Recess doors. Bus students enter the building by the Dolphin kids/recess door.
Exit the parking lot using the same route you entered based upon the zone you are assigned.
DEPARTURE/PICK UP PROCEDURES:
At 11:00 for 4K Students
All parents will pick up their 4K student in the Dolphin Zone. This will again be a drive up line.
Parents should remain in their vehicle in the pick-up line. Please do not park and walk up to get your child.
Teachers will help load students.
Once children are loaded, parents can get out to help kids buckle.
At the End of the Day
There will be two Pick Up Zones in order to manage the traffic flow. The DOLPHIN ZONE and the FLIPPER ZONE. The DOLPHIN ZONE is the zone that is used for arrival/drop off in the morning. Families with last names A-L will use this zone. The other zone, the FLIPPER zone will be located on the large blacktop lot adjacent to the bus lane. This FLIPPER ZONE will be used for families with last names M-Z. Please see below regarding what entrance to use based upon your last name.
DOLPHIN ZONE - enter and exit the parking lot on 164. (FAMILIES: A-L)
FLIPPER ZONE - enter and exit the parking lot on 167/Holy Hill Road. (FAMILIES: M-Z)
Please do NOT arrive before 3:00 pm as this will greatly impact traffic flow. When you arrive you must remain in the pick-up line, there will be NO parking in the parking spots in either of our lots during this time.
Please follow the traffic flow maps shown above. There will also be signs posted for instruction regarding parking and traffic flow.
Please stay in your vehicle while children are loaded. If you need to help younger students buckle car seats, you may exit to support them.
We will have staff using walkie-talkies/cellphones to communicate to the teachers supervising students that you are here and to send your student(s) out of the building and to the correct zone. Your child will know what zone to go to, therefore it is critical that parents pick up in the correct zone. On the first day of school, we will be sending home a sheet of paper with your students' last name to keep in your vehicle and display in your front windshield as you arrive at FLES, this will help our staff identify families quickly.
When your child reaches your vehicle please be cautious as you exit the parking lot. Watch for other students and our staff.
RMS Drop-Off & Pick-Up Routines
RMS Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures:
MORNING DROP-OFF
At the beginning of the school day students can be dropped off at the main doors (north entrance), by the flagpoles. Drop off is no earlier than 7:45am. Students should proceed to the cafeteria and can go to their lockers at the first bell at 7:55am. Parents should follow the traffic pattern highlighted with green and red arrows.
AFTERNOON PICK-UP
The diagram below outlines the traffic flow for Pick-Up. During the school day, the back parking lot/recess area gates remain closed. Our school custodian will open the gates at 3:10 PM. This ensures traffic will not back up onto Highway 167. At the end of the school day, staff members will dismiss students (marked by the yellow line) and supervise as they locate their car and exit. Please make sure to drive slowly and keep an eye out for students walking to their cars. After your child is picked up, please continue through the parking lot, exit right onto Hwy 167 and go through the roundabout. Again, follow the traffic pattern highlighted with green and red arrows.
School Photos: Friday!
Picture Day: September 3rd
Below are the links that parents can use to order their childs' pictures and pre-pay online for them. This option is the best as it alleviates having more physical contact and lets parents order directly from their homes.
Alternately, you can print the attached pdf form and send it with payment when your child has their picture taken. (Copies of the order form will be available with the photographers also.)

Hi! My name is Angie Gemignani. (Jem-in-yanni) My students call me Mrs. Gem because it’s much easier to say! I have taught both middle school & high school ELA as well as middle school reading. My husband Kevin (also a former middle school teacher) is currently an administrator in the New Berlin School District. We have two children - Jackson who starts middle school in just a few weeks and Giana who will be in 3rd grade.
Outside of school, I love reading, being outdoors, and attending live music, theater, and sporting events. I am a huge Milwaukee Bucks fan, so this year’s playoff run and NBA Championship was an incredibly exciting time in our house. My son plays both basketball and baseball and my daughter is involved in dance and theater.
I have a true passion for working with middle school students and am incredibly excited to join the team here at Holy HIll School District!
