February Updates:
This time of year can often feel like Winter is just stuck right on top of us and my own imagination becomes a little limited. The weather is variable, going from frigid to lovely, we crave the sunlight, but still don't get enough of it, and we're ready for the seasons to change. When I reflected on the past month, and looked at the month ahead, however, what I saw were so many examples of Burke Town School students being unlimited. I thought about our Robotics Club and their success. I thought about a 2nd grade student going from never putting skis on to asking anyone and everyone to take her up the lift. I thought about students showing immense growth on iReady testing. I remembered how our K-4 literacy team has taken on a new literacy program with passion and dedication to our students' learning. I saw the science posters from middle school in teaching me about elements and their flight test runs down the hall. I remembered students telling me about Muddy Waters and Nina Simone after music class. My limited imagination of what can happen in the winter did not limit what our children were able to accomplish. How amazing is that!?
As we move into February, we have a lot to look forward to. Some of our 7th grade students have spearheaded a Talent Show that will be happening next Tuesday evening. We have two Winter Activities days coming up. We have some professional learning and a vacation to plan for! And don't forget about the Valentine's Day Dance at Miller's Run for 6-8!
