Minh Truong is Sugar Land Exchange January's Student of the Month. Minh loves his family very much and feels they are his greatest source of support and encouragement. As an only child, his parents have taught him the importance of kindness, respect, care, perseverance, responsibility and hard work. Minh practices Tae Kwon Do to help keep focused and strong. He also plays in the orchestra and loves working with fellow students to make amazing music.

All students got a visit from their school counselor about SchooLinks! SchooLinks is the college and career platform for FBISD. It is also where we will do Course Selection and Four-Year-Planning. Please log in and create a parent account, so you can see what career activities we are up to!

All current 6th-8th graders will enter course selection through SchooLinks.

The window is JANUARY 27-FEBRUARY 14.

KHS was on campus Friday, January 24 in US History Classes presenting course offerings and an overview of Kempner High School for our 8th graders. Following this visit, Mrs. Seright will go back into US History classes to do four-year planning in SchooLinks.

Current 6th and 7th graders will have counselor visits through social studies classes FEBRUARY 3-10 where they will review course selection options and show students entry in SchooLinks.

Once the window closes, students and parents will have a small window of time to review and change selections from March 3-7.

We will have a Parent Night for our current students in grades 6-8 next Thursday, January 30 from 6-7PM that includes an elective fair and breakout sessions by grade level if you have any questions.

CougFest 2025 for our current 8th graders will be held on Wednesday, January 29th from 6:00-7:30 PM at Kempner High School.

As the we kick off the new year and second half of the school year, we will begin preparing for following school year recruiting for new board members. Many of our current board members have students moving on to high school leaving lots open positions! Serving on a PTO is a great way to connect with other parents, learn more about the school staff and operations and serve your community! Daytime availability is important but not required…the majority of our current board works full-time! If you or someone you know is interested in serving on the PTO board in a leadership or committee position, please reach out to us today!

SLMS PTO

Support our students and staff by setting up a monthly donation to PTO. You can set this automatic donation starting at a few dollars. Remember that every dollar helps our PTO do AMAZING things for our community.

When a new badge is printed for a student, a fine will be assessed in Skyward. Theh parent will receive an email with a link to pay Revtrak. The standardized fee of $8 will be placed on the Skyward account for the student.

Sugar Land MS Cell Phone Expectations

• Phones must be powered off and stored in the students' backpacks during the instructional day (8:20 AM - 4:10 PM).
• If a student needs to call home for any reason, they can use the phone in the office or in the classroom with permission.
• FBISD schools are not responsible for the loss or theft of student-owned devices per district policy. The student is responsible for retrieving the phone at the end of the day for the first and second offense.
