Cape's Mission & Vision
Vision: We believe that the most promising strategy for achieving the mission of Cape Elementary is to develop our capacity to function as a professional learning community.
Message from Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund
Dear Cape Parents,
It is hard to believe that it is already November! During the month of November, we are reminded of all the things for which we are thankful each day. Our Cape families are at the top of our list! We are very thankful and feel honored to work with the students at Cape Elementary. We are a school family. We rely on each other to help make a difference in the lives of the students that we teach. Without the partnership between students, staff, parents and community sponsors, none of this would be possible, so, once again, thank you.
Our Trunk or Treat event was a huge success. We had over 1,200 people attend along with 32 trunks and over 20,000 pieces of candy donated. Once again, our Cape families’ donations and support created a special evening for our students. We are so grateful for all of you.
We are thankful for our awesome PTO for their support of our SOAR Celebrations, Principal Luncheons, Capeable store, principal cart and so much more! We are delighted to reward and celebrate our students in a variety of ways. We can do this because of our supportive Cape families and successful fundraisers.
With Thanksgiving and Winter Break approaching, please keep in mind how unscheduled interruptions prior to the holidays impact the students’ learning. Please plan your trips during the times of breaks to keep loss of instruction at a minimum. An updated calendar has been released for the makeup days following Hurricanes Milton and Helene. Teachers will be teaching every day up until and following our breaks, and students will miss out on valuable instructional time if they aren’t at school. Your support with maintaining consistent attendance, including arriving at school on time by 7:53, truly makes a difference. Every day counts! We appreciate your partnership and are thankful for the important role you play in your child’s education.
Sincerely,
Nicole Osterholm and Kristi Sund

PTO News!
Our Spirit Night at Topgolf was such a fun day & raised $450. It was awesome seeing so many Cape students and families out and about!
Cape’s annual Trunk or Treat had an amazing turn out with so many awesome trunks and costumes! PTO provided the prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trunks! Thank you to our community businesses for your kind donations; Art in the Cape, Two Meatballs, Fords Garage and Marquee Cinema!!
We are excited to announce a new date for Candy Bar Bingo! It will be on Friday November 22 at 6:30. Instead of candy as a ticket for admission, PTO is asking for a $10-$20 gift card per family/group. This will be put towards teacher appreciation gifts during Christmas week!! Fingers crossed that the weather cooperates for us this time!
Keep an eye out for our flyer to come home soon about Breakfast with Santa! This is a huge event and is a favorite for our students, parents and staff! Cape Vineyard’s Community Church will be hosting us again this year and we all can’t wait!
We have A LOT of volunteer opportunities coming up that we will have listed on PTBoard including Breakfast with Santa, Holiday Shoppe Setup, & Holiday Shoppe Elves. Please join PTBoard to see all of the upcoming PTO events & volunteer opportunities. https://capeelementarypto.ptboard.com School code: SXEABG
Thank you for all the support you give the PTO! Without parent involvement in our events the PTO would not be possible. We appreciate each and every one of you and are so thankful to have the opportunity to support our students, teachers, & staff at Cape Elementary! Happy Thanksgiving!
Morning Drop-Off New Procedure: TARDY STUDENTS!
Our parent drop-off period is from 7:20 AM to 7:53 AM. We unload over 320 cars during that time with the help of our staff members and safety patrols. We are grateful for all of you pulling up close to the person in front of you and having your child hop out quickly.
Starting in the month of November, if you arrive after 7:53 AM, we kindly ask that you park in the big visitor's parking lot and walk your child to the front office for check-in. This procedure ensures that we maintain a secure environment for all students.
Birthday Celebrations at School!
Students' birthdays are recognized on the morning news program and in the classrooms. Parents need to contact the teacher if they want to bring in treats. All treats must be store bought. Cupcakes are requested instead of cakes. Treats can be served in the cafe. Balloons are not permitted on campus and/or on the school bus.
November Counseling Corner
Thank you to our students, parents and school personnel for supporting National Bullying Prevention Month in October!
Our theme this year was “Share Kind Vibes!” Students were involved in activities including: Wearing blue on October 21 to show support for World Day of Bullying Prevention; signing an anti-bullying pledge and wearing orange for National Unity Day on Oct. 16. Each classroom was given supplies for classroom projects including a Kindness Bingo Card Challenge with tasks for students to complete. Classrooms that fill the card and return it to Miss Boeck will be rewarded with a special treat in the cafeteria on World Kindness Day, November 13.
If you have questions pertaining to Cape Elementary School’s procedures for handling suspected bullying or harassment, please feel free to contact Miss Boeck, Certified School Counselor, or Mrs. Sund, Assistant Principal.
Cape Elementary is a PBIS School. We practice Positive Behavior Support throughout our classrooms and campus. Our behavior expectations are framed with an “I can do this” approach, and students recite our SOAR expectations daily. We provide opportunities for intrinsic motivation and extrinsic rewards for successfully demonstrating positive behavior.
Our first Positive Behavior Interventions & Support school-wide SOAR celebration was postponed due to Hurricane Milton; however, students who consistently follow SOAR expectations will be treated to a “Magic in the Morning” celebration on November 1. Please continue to encourage your student to follow our SOAR expectations as we gear up for our next celebration at the end of Quarter 2.
If you would like to support our efforts to provide rewards and activities to promote PBIS at Cape Elementary, please reach out to Kristi Sund, our PBIS administrator.
Cape Elementary is once again able to offer Thanksgiving turkeys and Christmas gifts thanks to our partnership with Cape Coral First Methodist Church. If you know of a Cape family or if your Cape family is in need of assistance this holiday season, please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher or the school counselor for an assistance form.
The district-wide character word for November is CITIZENSHIP/PATRIOTISM. This involves the quality of an individual’s response to membership in a community. The district’s quote for the month is, “Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country.” Please join with us in November in promoting citizenship and patriotism to build these character traits in our future leaders here at Cape Elementary School.
