Student of the Week
Mackenzie Brown
Grade: 9
Parent’s Name(s): James and Bethany Brown
Future Plans: To become a Veterinary Technician
Favorite Book: The Last Dog on Earth by David Ehrenhaft
Hobbies and Interests: Drawing, music, and softball
School Activities: Softball
Staff Comments: Mackenzie is willing to put in the necessary time and effort to accomplish the work required in her classes. In her quiet way, she is reliable, responsible, and committed to achieving success, which shows in her work and grades and will greatly assist her as she works toward graduation and then on to becoming a veterinary technician. I have observed Mackenzie to be cheerful, kind and friendly toward those she comes in contact with and is pleasant, polite and respectful in the classroom. I have yet to see her play softball, but I suspect the effort is the same as in the classroom! Keep up the great work Mackenzie!

CDC Guidelines
Covid and other respiratory viruses are present in our community. At BFPS we follow the CDC guidelines for these illnesses. The CDC guidelines state to stay home and away from others until your symptoms are getting better and you are fever free for 24 hours without medications. The guidelines additionally state to take added precautions for the next 5 days. One of those added precautions would be to wear a mask and we would encourage all to do that. If you have any questions, please reach out to Nurse Tracy.

The Well-Being of Our Community is a Top Priority!
There are multiple areas that contribute to the well-being of an individual. These include emotional, social, spiritual, physical, environmental, occupational, and intellectual. While each is important on its own, together they form the foundation of our well-being! In school, the well-being of our students helps ensure the highest potential for learning. Part of that learning process includes our staff. Therefore, their well-being is equally important to the education process and the success of your child. To help our school incorporate well-being into our day, we applied for and were awarded the Building Healthy Communities: Step Up for School Wellness program. This program provides resources and support for our students and staff around physical activity, physical education, healthy eating, nutrition education, social & emotional health, and overall well-being strategies. The program allows our school to select from a variety of resources each year and implement the program at our pace. This year we were awarded the "Quality Physical Education Grant" which will provide us with the Exemplary Physical Education Curriculum TM and equipment to expand our physical education program.
Our School Health Team includes a dedicated team of educators, school administrators, support staff, and students, who will work together to implement this program throughout the school year. As part of this process, we will have the opportunity to evaluate our successes, apply for more resources next year to fill any gaps, and always ensure that our school meets the health needs of students, their families, and our staff. Please look forward to getting regular updates on our program progress.
