TIGER TIMES
Back to School Edition - August 2023
NOTES FROM YOUR PRINCIPALS
Dear Titus Family,
We had another great week at Titus! It's such a joy to be in our hallways each day. Joy and laughter can be heard around every corner while focus and instruction are taking place - it's a great combination!
I am bursting with excitement as we approach this coming week, especially with our much-anticipated Titus Run for Funds on Friday, September 27th. We can’t wait to see you there to cheer on our amazing Titus Tigers during the fun run! Check out the schedule (in this week's newsletter) so you know what time your children will be "running". Emails will be coming your way each day with updates and information.
This event is not just about running; it’s a wonderful week of celebrating all that Titus is! Our Run for Funds ties directly with our character education program and each day of the week our students will focus on ... PRIDE - RESPECT - INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY - DETERMINATION - EMPATHY through lessons presented by our 6th grade leaders. It is a wonderful school wide program that brings us all together for a common purpose and goal.
Please check out the video below from our opening assembly today - it's epic!
Also, this is our only fundraiser of the year, and we invite our vibrant Titus community to come together in support of our Home and School Association. Your generosity helps to provide enriching opportunities and fun activities for all our students, and we truly appreciate every bit of support.
Thank you for your continued support of our great school. We can’t wait to see you next Friday—it’s going to be amazing!
Warmest wishes.
Your Proud Principal,
Mrs. Helen Sclama Zaleski
Hello Titus Community-
We had an incredible week. I have learned that the Titus staff is a “well-oiled machine,” and they have our students right where they need to be.
The energy in our building at our kickoff assembly for Run for Funds was ELECTRIC! Special thanks to our 6th grade leaders and teachers for all their efforts in getting ready for today’s assembly. I am so proud of the amount of pride that was shown by all our students. This pride will be on full display today and all of next week as we gear up for the big event next Friday.
Have a great weekend everyone

PSSA Reports
On Friday, September 27th the 2024 PSSA Individual Student Report (ISR) will be sent home in a sealed envelope with your 4th - 6th grade child. The assessment was administered in grades 3-6 in English Language Arts and Mathematics, and grade 4 in science during the 2023-24 school year.
If your child receives a blank report, that is an indication that your child did not take the assessment. Additionally, you will not receive a report if your child was not a student at Elementary School during our last school year.
If you have any questions about this information, please feel free to reach out to me. We value your continuous support of your child's learning.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Helen Sclama Zaleski

TITUS SCHOOL DAY
SCHOOL HOURS REMINDER
We are an "A" or early school, and our hours are 8:35 AM to 3:15 PM.
The morning kindergarten session hours are 8:35 AM to 11:10 AM.
The afternoon kindergarten session will run from 12:40 PM to 3:15PM.
START OF THE SCHOOL DAY ...
Please be aware that the school day begins at 8:35 AM in your child(ren)'s classroom(s). If you are a car rider in the morning, it is recommended that children are dropped off no later than 8:30 AM in order to get to their classrooms for the start of the school day at 8:35 AM. If a student arrives in their classroom beyond 8:35 AM, they are considered tardy. Parents will need to come into the building to sign their child in if they arrive after 8:35 AM.
The adults supervising the car-rider drop-off line will be on duty until 8:32 AM. Students dropped off after 8:32 AM will more than likely not be able to make it to their classrooms on time for the start of the school day at 8:35 AM. Also, for safety reasons, students arriving to school prior to 8:15 AM, need to be supervised by their parent/caregiver. We ask that all students wait with their family member in the drop off line until 8:15 AM.
CENTRAL BUCKS INFORMATION
COMMITTED TO ALL STUDENTS
Committed to an Inclusive Environment for Students with Disabilities
At Central Bucks, our mission is to equip every student, regardless of ability or need, with academic and problem-solving skills essential for personal growth, responsible citizenship and continuous learning. In recent years, the district has been working to create a continuum of special education services and programs in all schools to ensure students with disabilities can be educated in their home schools and alongside their peers, to the maximum extent possible, rather than transported to schools or locations outside their home school. ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
Regular School Attendance is Critical for Student Success and Well-Being
As we begin the 2024-25 school year, CBSD wishes to remind families of important information regarding attendance. Pennsylvania's school laws, like Act 138 of 2016 and the updated Act 16, outline what is required for mandatory school attendance and procedures to follow when students are absent or late. Learn more

Information on Title IX
The 2024 Title IX regulations enhance protections against sexual harassment and gender identity discrimination. CBSD is dedicated to ensuring an environment free from discrimination due to race, age, religion, sex, gender identity, disability and any other classification protected by state or federal law. We uphold Title IX, prohibiting sex-based discrimination and harassment. Updated Title IX regulations, approved in the summer of 2024, emphasize stronger protections for students, particularly regarding sexual harassment and gender identity discrimination. Parents and guardians with inquiries should contact their building principal or Alyssa Wright, Title IX coordinator, at 267-893-2060 or alwright@cbsd.org. More information
SAFETY UPDATE
New Safety Protocol Launched with New School Year
All schools in CBSD will be implementing the Standard Response Protocol developed by the "I Love U Guys" Foundation beginning this school year. The SRP provides a framework for handling various emergency situations in schools by emphasizing the importance of consistent, clear communication across all schools and with law enforcement. Learn more by clicking here.
TECH REMINDERS
Payment System Open for 1-to-1 Device Fee for Grades 3-12
The 1-to-1 fee payment system opened on August 14 for families of students in grades 3-12. There is no fee for families of K-2 students as devices for these grades stay at school. All CB students will either receive a device this year or continue to use the device that was issued last year. Even if your child has their own device, we ask that you participate in our program to allow for a consistent learning platform for our students. Read more about the plan, the fee amounts, and next steps here.

Due Today: Create a Design for CBSD's Lock Screen for All to See!
During the 2024-2025 school year, CBSD invites students to draw inspiration from CBSD's "Portrait of a Graduate" to create an original design to display on the lock screens of district laptops and ClearTouch panels. The winning artwork will be featured on CBSD screens each month for all students, faculty and staff to see! Submissions for the first round of the competition are due today, Sept. 20. The winning student artist will also receive a prize. Students can submit their designs based on each month's Portrait of a Graduate theme. More details and how to submit.

VOLUNTEERS
DON'T FORGET CLEARANCES ...
Titus will expect all potential volunteers to complete their paperwork for clearances prior to assuming any volunteer/chaperone role within the school. This will ensure we are in line with district and state expectations.
Who Needs Clearances: An individual who is responsible for the child's welfare or has direct contact with children. Pennsylvania law requires all persons having direct contact with school children to obtain background checks and clearances. In the best interest of the safety and security of our students, Central Bucks School District required the submission of these clearances prior to volunteering during the school year. Approved volunteers are given an identification card to be presented at the school (along with your photo ID, such as a driver's license) when volunteering. Please allow 7-10 days after you have submitted your online application for receipt of the ID card.
Additional information and steps on how to complete your clearances can be found on our district website by clicking here.
