Mustang Fine Arts Signing Day
Mustang Fine Arts celebrated with 20 students and their families as they signed their intent to continue their arts education at the post secondary level. These students collectively were awarded over 1.2 million dollars in scholarships and tuition assistance!!
"Wizard" Receives Nominations for Kelli O'Hara Awards
The Kelli O’Hara Awards were created by OKC Broadway to celebrate outstanding achievement in Oklahoma high school musical theatre. The program highlights the exceptional students and teachers who devote their time and passion to making a home in their schools for the performing arts. The winners of the Kelli O’Hara Awards for Best Actress and Actor will participate in the National High School Theatre Awards, where they will receive professional training and compete with winners from dozens of other regional programs to a national audience. Riverwood 4th Grade Visits MCMS Band to Make Music
Mrs. Amanda Thomas took her 4th grade music classes from Riverwood to visit and "sit in" with the MCMS Wind Ensemble led by their teacher Mrs. Jessica Holt. The joy of watching these students make music is beyond words. Take a look at the video below.
Jot Turner Memorial Scholarship Fund Established
As a special addition to their spring concert, the high school wind ensemble performed a memorial concert for band member Jot Turner. They presented two works by composer Randall Standridge, "Unbroken" and "Choose Joy." They also unveiled the establishment of the "Jot Turner Memorial Scholarship Fund." Those wishing to make a contribution to the fund may contact the high school band office.
CRI Visual Artists Receive Honors
Canyon Ridge will have 18 artworks showing at the State Fair in September, and they received 7 merit awards, 2 exceptional merit awards, and 1 Judges' Choice award!

MHS Actors Learning to Act on Screen
Mustang Theatre is starting a new collaboration with the Oklahoma Film Actors Studio. This new endeavor connects Mustang high school students with actors who have enjoyed success as professional screen actors. The mission of OFA is, "To destroy the barriers of entry to acting at a professional level, and do it in a fun & motivating way that’s unprecedented for Oklahoma." Mustang graduate Kylr Coffman, an accomplished film actor, recently visited to present a workshop for Mustang students. With the growing film industry in Oklahoma, this is presenting several opportunities for our students.
Riverwood Singers and Prairie View Voices Sing in OKC
The Riverwood Singers under the direction of Mrs. Amanda Thomas and the Prairie View Voices led by Mrs. Jennifer Hooten, brought the gift of music to the OKC Arts Festival. Great teaching and learning was on display for all to hear.
Lakehoma Students Use Their Art Skills to Help
Students from Lakehoma Elementary School put their jewelry making skills to great use in honoring Zach Doran. Art teacher Amy Leochner teaches these skills in her art classes and students made the most of their art form to help others and provide for the future.
Percussion Concert a Huge Success!
Percussionists from all three middle schools and the high school presented an amazing concert complete with lighting effects and just about any type of percussion instrument and music one could imagine. Congratulations to the Mustang Percussion faculty Mr. Chris Ozinga, Percussion Coordinator, and Mr. Nick Steward and Mr. Shane Holmquist.
Spring Concerts A-Plenty
In the past three weeks choirs and bands from Mustang intermediate schools, middle schools, and the high school have presented their spring concerts. This amounts to 8 concerts with 47 separate ensembles and over 1500 students. There are a "few" representative photos below.
