Early College Credit/Start College Now
Early College Credit Program (ECCP)
Applies to University of Wisconsin, Private, Non-profit, and tribal colleges.
For students in Grades 9-12
State statue (118.55) allows Wisconsin public and private high school students to take on or more courses at an institution of higher education for high school and/or college credit. You must discuss your enrollment with your counselor and submit your completed form by February 1st for Summer, March 1st for Fall courses and October 1st for Spring Courses.
Start College Now (SCN)
Applies to Technical Colleges in Wisconsin
For students in grades 11 and 12
"Start College Now" will allow high school students the opportunity to take college courses at Wisconsin Technical Colleges. Statute 38.12 (14) lays out all the aspects of the program. Students looking to take courses in Fall semester must turn in the application by March 1. For spring semester courses the same application is used, however the due date is October 1st.
What you need to know:
- Courses are not approved if our school offers a similar course
- If our school approves the course, our school pays the cost of tuition and books/materials/ other costs are the responsibility of the family.
- IF a student fails, drops or withdraws from the course, the family will be required to pay the cost of the tuition for the course.
- Students cannot participate in ECCP and SCN at the same time.
- High school students are the last students to be enrolled in courses.
- It is important to have several options for courses in case on is full or not available.
Dual Credit
These courses are taught by DCA teachers. Students who successfully complete and approved college credit course offered through DCA may have the opportunity to earn college credits. Dual Credit (DC) course credit may be transferred to other higher education institutions. Advanced Standing (AS) course credit generally may only be used at the same credit issuing school.
Advanced Placement (AP) Credit Information
Advanced Placement classes are college level courses offered in high schools. These courses are taught by our teachers or Stride K12 teachers. Students have the option to take and Advanced Placement exam and have the potential to earn college credit depending on their score and college policies.
Work Credit
The primary purpose of the work experience program is to motivate students to learn from actual work experience and give recognition and credit to those students who successfully complete the work experience program.
