Westfield Principal Kristen Ulery
Westfield families:
I can't believe we only have one week of school left this year! I feel so privileged to be Westfield's principal this year and to get to know the wonderful staff, students, and families!
This week we had the kindergarten and fourth grade field trips and the fifth graders' Too Good for Drugs graduation, as well as field day. Next week we will celebrate our fifth graders with the fifth grade fling, step up to Glen Crest day, and a clap out at dismissal on Friday. We will miss them, but we are excited for the new opportunities they will experience.
School is closed on Monday for Memorial Day, so enjoy the long weekend, and we will see everyone on Tuesday for the last week of school!
Kristen Ulery
Westfield Principal
Check for ticks
We had a wonderful field day today! Thank you to Mrs. Hanneman for the detailed contingency planning that allowed us to have a great day despite the rain.
The ticks have been active even on freshly mowed grass, so please be cautious of checking your kids for ticks, not just after field day, but any time they have been playing outside, even at school or in the backyard. Ticks can especially hide behind ears and along the scalp.
The ABC Countdown continues
The ABC countdown will continue through the last day of school. This is a fun activity for the end of the school year where we incorporate a theme or activity for each day of the last 26 days of school. The countdown started on Thursday, April 25, and we have an activity for each letter of the alphabet until we reach Z on the last day of school.
Participation in things like dress-up themes is optional, but the whole calendar is below so you know the themes for each day.
All schools will be closed Monday, May 27, for Memorial Day
Reminder: All CCSD 89 schools will be closed on Monday, May 27, for the Memorial Day holiday. School will resume on Tuesday, May 28, on a regular schedule. The last day of the 2024-25 school year is a half day (morning attendance) on Friday, May 31.
All library books must be returned
We still have about 100 library books that have not been returned. Please send any library books you have at home to school with your child on Tuesday, even if that is not their usual day for LMC.
Donations needed for Girls on the Run Impact Project
As part of the Girls on the Run program, the students selected a community impact project. The girls decided to do a fundraiser for the ARF- Animal Rescue Foundation.
The students are collecting animal toys, food, and supplies in each pod to be donated to the Animal Rescue Foundation. The pod that donates the most will be rewarded with extra recess.
Donations are being accepted now through Tuesday, May 28th.
Fifth grade "Too Good for Drugs" graduation
Thursday was the fifth graders' graduation from the "Too Good for Drugs" program they have been doing with Officer Allison. The students also played some music they've been working on with Mr. Altieri using ukuleles, drums, and other instruments.
Check the lost and found
Please check the lost and found! We have many items, including sweatshirts, coats, and lunch items. Anything remaining at the end of the school year will be donated.
