Huber Heights City Schools Redistricting Update
Last spring, Huber Heights City Schools began a redistricting study aimed at balancing school enrollment to help us better serve our students and families. We appreciate those who attended our first Public Information Webinar in April.
We’ve since collaborated with Cropper GIS and our public advisory committee to guide the development of two options to enhance balance, efficiency, and equity in our elementary schools. You can review these options on our dedicated redistricting website: HHCSredistricting.com.
Please share your feedback through the General Feedback Form available on the website. We also invite you to join us at Studebaker for our final Public Information Session on Thursday, October 24, at 6 p.m., to discuss the options and provide your input.
Your feedback will be used to make any further refinements before presenting our final recommendation to the Board of Education in December. The new district map will go into effect for the 2025-2026 school year.
Thank you for your participation and continued support!

Wayne High School
Wayne Students Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month
Students in Srta. Neria, Sr. Riley, and Sra. Jordan’s Spanish classes at Wayne High School recently celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by recognizing the rich culture and contributions of Spanish-speaking communities.
As part of the festivities, students gathered to watch an informative video about the significance of the month, followed by a feast of traditional Latin American dishes, desserts, and beverages. For many students, this event marked their first visit to a Latin store, where they had the chance to purchase authentic ingredients for their meals.
During the celebration, students also enjoyed learning the Bachata, a dance that originated in the Dominican Republic. This event has become a favorite tradition at Wayne High School, plays an important role in the Spanish curriculum, and fosters cultural awareness among students.
Staff Appreciation Night Honors Educators
The Wayne High School Girls Soccer Team recently hosted its Second Annual Teacher/Staff Appreciation Night, honoring several exceptional educators at Huber Heights City Schools. Each varsity player nominated a teacher or staff member who has made a significant impact on their lives.

Nominated by their teachers for exemplifying the characteristics of a Warrior, these outstanding students enjoyed a special breakfast with a friend and a teacher of their choice. Congratulations to Chase, Parker, Jae'Onna, and Mya on this well-deserved recognition!

Charles Huber Elementary School
Spotlight on our Charles Huber Fourth Graders!
This month, we want to celebrate the fantastic work our fourth graders have been doing.
In English Language Arts, they’ve been exploring similes and metaphors, learning to “show” instead of “tell” in their narratives. Students also enhanced their speaking and listening skills by sharing details with partners and providing constructive feedback.
In Social Studies, they’re diving into the differences between cardinal and ordinal directions and identifying symbols of the State of Ohio.
In Math, our students are mastering factoring by creating factor posters. They collaborated to discover all the factors of a given number using square tiles and then participated in a gallery walk to observe and provide feedback on each other’s work. Through this investigation, they learned what distinguishes prime numbers from composite numbers.
In Science, they’re applying the scientific method by conducting a fun experiment with gummy bears in various liquids.
Keep up the great work, fourth graders!
Special Guests at Charles Huber Pep Rally
Mr. and Miss Wayne, proud alums of Charles Huber Elementary, recently returned to inspire our students during a spirited pep rally. The Wayne Student Council, varsity football, soccer, cheer, the ROTC, and the Warriorettes joined them. We are incredibly proud of the young adults they’ve become and grateful for their dedication to mentoring our next generation of Warriors.

The Rushmore Elementary PTO kicked off the year with a successful Spaghetti Dinner last month. Many families joined us for an evening filled with music, decorations, and good company. Valley Forge Elementary School
Valley Forge Kindergarten Launches a Fun-Filled School Year
Valley Forge Kindergarten students have had a busy start to the school year, learning their school and classroom routines while forging new friendships along the way.
In Language Arts, the focus has been on recognizing the sounds within words and blending them to form new ones. Students have been practicing their writing strokes in preparation for letter formation in upcoming units. They are also learning the meanings of position words—such as right, left, top, and bottom—an essential foundation as they begin to understand that reading and writing flow from left to right and top to bottom on a page.
In Math, the young learners have been exploring patterns while being introduced to number sentences, as well as the concepts of more, less, addition, and subtraction.
The Kindergarten days have been filled with fun activities. Students celebrated their first Kona Ice Day by enjoying refreshing treats outside on a sunny afternoon. They also honored Johnny Appleseed Day by reading stories about him and collaborating to peel apples and make homemade applesauce. “It was delicious!” exclaimed Mrs. Molfenter, Valley Forge Principal. The excitement continued through the end of the month with a visit from Kasey the Firedog and Professional Firefighter Jeff Owens, who taught students in grades K-2 important fire safety tips.
With so many engaging activities and valuable lessons, our Kindergarten students are well on their way to a memorable and enriching year ahead!

Building Lifelong Skills with Pax Quiet
This month, students at Wright Brothers have begun practicing the PAX Quiet strategy, a tool our teachers use to calmly and safely get everyone’s attention. PAX Quiet enhances our school environment and helps students develop valuable lifelong skills. By learning to apply their own "brake pedal," students can pause and think before acting on impulses, fostering better decision-making.
Third Graders Celebrate ELA Success with an Alice in Wonderland Tea Party
Our third-grade students have been working hard in ELA this past month, diving into interesting themes and character traits. They explored literary tools like personification, perspective, and point-of-view while discussing important themes such as friendship, loyalty, hospitality, responsibility, and irresponsibility.
To celebrate their achievements, the students enjoyed a fun Alice in Wonderland tea party to mark the end of CKLA Unit 1! They enjoyed British cookies and pretend tea, recreating the iconic tea party scene from their reading selection. It was a fun and memorable way to bring their lessons to life!
